Reviews of Tidewater Neurologists
"Friendly staff. NP Nachama was phenomenal. She was very easy to talk to and answered all of my questions. Great first experience, and I am looking forward to treatment at this facility."
"I go to them for my care and I always get amazing care when I'm there. I don't call on the phone or wait for paperwork because I take care of it when I'm at the neurologist. I have never seen them not show compassion to a patient one way or the other. My doctor always listens to what I have to say and even though my visits are brief, they are easy to deal with and if I need anything I have it. I love Dr. Goldberg. He won't be my neurologist until he retires."
"So had an appointment at 10:15 today. Sat there for an hour waiting to be called back. Don't really understand how they are running this place. The front desk lady is not that bad, but why an hour to get sleep test results. Even when I came to my first appointment I had to sit there for an hour before being called back. Figure out your office. Obviously there is something wrong with the way you are running it. Ended up getting called back at 11:10."
"I have never seen a place where no one seem to want to help a patient when they need help with something. These people so lazy they can't even help with paper work. A patient could not really see so they asked for help. No one wanted to help they told them to do it any way if you are not in the field to help a patient you do need to be in any medical field period. You should always help a patient black or white but they break they neck to help the white. No okay. I said this and they need to do better. I will no recommend this kind of treatment to anyone"
"I have been here a few times over the years and it's never been pleasant, but the last time was the final straw. I waited past my appointment time, then was taken back to a scale in an open hallway. The person I assumed to be a nurse abruptly said, "Step on the scale." I politely said, "No thank you. If we need weight for medication dosing or something else specific, I will do it then and preferably not in a hallway for everyone to see and hear." She replied in a tone even more rude than her initial address, "We need it now." I asked, "For what?" She then rolled her eyes and said, "Do you want to be seen today?" It took everything within me not to walk out. This is NEUROLOGY with a referral for very specific things, and I've been seen in this office before, but they couldn't find THOSE records, so we started over again. My weight has nothing to do with my current or past issues, and if you NEED IT for a specific purpose, you can kindly state that. You can also recognize that I made a very clear request for privacy to do so. Once I got into the office, the doctor didn't even mention the reason for my visit. He was clearly in a rush and dismissive when I asked questions. I'm not an idiot. I am asking because, as a practitioner in another field, I know that patients are more apt to be compliant when they feel included in the decision-making for their course of care and understand the course. I'm asking because it's my body and 100% my choice. He couldn't (or wouldn't) explain to me why a painful, invasive procedure was being ordered. I reiterated there is extensive medical trauma and I've had NUMEROUS similar procedures and really needed to minimize more without good cause and he couldn't / wouldn't give me one. Needless to say, I did not have the procedure. I also did not return and will not return. Instead of driving to their office, which is 10 minutes away, I drive 40 minutes to an office where they respect my request for privacy, answer questions with real information and compassion, and don't think it's okay for many of the staff to speak in a condescending tone to patients. They've also never suggested that painful, invasive procedure. When I asked why that wasn't being offered, the provider said, "I don't see a need for it. Given what we have results for within the last 6 months, there's no clear need and I don't think the information it MIGHT give is worth the invasion for you. Do you want it?" It's that simple, folks. I never had the procedure done, I got the answers I needed very quickly without anything else invasive, my weight ever being recorded (and no, I'm not working towards my 600 lb life, no shade to those folks, but just in case you're wondering why they were so insistent), or ever being spoken to like I couldn't possibly understand what they were wanting to do. The issue is now well managed with them and other related specialists. I'll keep driving away from Tidewater Neuro & Sleep for respectful, informative, collaborative care."
