"The front reception desk is a mess! They are not polite and are not helpful. There is one lady that seems to great but she is so busy undoing all the mess of the others!! I do like the ophthalmologist but I’m switching for yearly eye exams. The optometrist will not listen to me when I tell her the RX she has given me isn’t working out. $700 in glasses and she keeps blaming the lab. I’ve worn glasses for 48 years and I have never had this happen. Dealing with this office is awful. I typed this while standing in line over 15 minutes trying to check out."
"Ridiculously horrible experience with the front staff. We are even surprised they’re still open. It’s obvious they have no front office leadership or customer service training. Absolutely deplorable. Doctors are good/great… they should fire everyone upfront and start from scratch… not one, not two, but MULTIPLE examples during one single visit I’m happy to discuss with anyone who sees this at their office. For what Doctors charge insurance, as well as the salaries they earn, you’d think at least some “professional” manners at minimum would be expected. Hardee’s have better employees, and even that’s a stretch."
"I have come here for years and it USED TO BE great. Now I would not recommend this office to anyone. The front office staff is horrible. All rude, unhelpful, place you on hold constantly, or just flat out hang up on you. Me and my husband both had appointments scheduled around the same time but on different days. They rescheduled us both THREE different times which would be 6 appointments rescheduled altogether. One of the times they didn't even call to tell us they were rescheduling we just received a text saying they canceled our appointments with no notice. Another time they changed the time of our appointment without telling us. They have hung up on us NUMEROUS times its just absolutely ridiculous. When I finally went in for my appointment the front desk was not welcoming in the slightest as expected and once I was back in the room I did voice my concern about the numerous reschedules and terrible service and nothing was done other than being told that they have been hearing that a lot lately. We will not be going back which is ashame because I loved our doctor."
"Very, very I repeat workers are very unprofessional. I have been going to James River for some years and I have notice that it's some new workers on board. The Dr. that I normally see she is awesome. Recently I have been calling the office. I have been placed on hold several times at least 5 minutes. Having to hang up and call back. The employee was rude and placed me on hold again. I was quoted the incorrect price and when I called back I was quoted a different price. I had to actually go to the office speak with manager because I didn't want to call due to the issues I've already had over the phone. At that time the manager spoke with me she was very nice at the time. The next day I came back just to get a copy of my prescription. While I was standing I overheard the manager ask the employee rudely "what does she want to do? Is she going to order the contacts or not"? I had to peek my head around the corner and advise her that I was only there to get a copy of my contact prescription. After that I decided to purchase my contacts elsewhere because of the way I was treated. I also have insurance coverage. Professionalism really needs to be addressed. I will not be going back."
"Okay. I’ve debated leaving this review because I am not a doctor and health care is important….but here it is- I get the feeling that i was robbed via my healthcare insurance. After an annual review (which was subpar at best) I was told to come back for an ophthalmologist appointment due to irregular pressure in my eyes. I made the appointment for 2 weeks later. This appointment is not covered by my normal eye care insurance however it is covered by healthcare insurance. Again remember I indicated that healthcare is important, so I attended the appointment only for the specialist to take 5 minutes to look at my eyes and tell me that the testing equipment necessary to make a diagnosis was not working. When I went to make an additional appointment I was told that the equipment may be fixed in January 2023. (How long has it been broken?) This sounds like a smash and grab via healthcare. I am truly disappointed."
