Reviews of Bon Secours - Tuckahoe Orthopedics
"Can’t recommend the knee replacement surgeon. I feel like I’ve just traded one type of knee pain for another, but it’s only been 5 months. And the amount they quoted as my responsibility has been exceeded by thousands after the surgery. Explain how that works???"
"Check in was easy and simple. We didn't have to wait long. The nurses were lovely and kind. The doctor was kind and patient answered all of my questions. The only issue that we had was I let my daughter go with the xray tech by herself and my daughter came back upset and she had told me that the xray tech threatened to duct tape her hand to the table which I did not appreciate and thought it was unnecessary to say that to a child."
"Dr Van did an L4/5 laminectomy for me in Sept 2022. The procedure did correct my lower back pain. However, from the moment I woke up after surgery, I had numbness down one leg and across a foot. This left me with a drop foot for which I have to wear a leg brace. I will walk with difficulty, I believe, for the rest of my life. Each time I pointed this out for months I was told it would go away. My impression was that everyone wanted ME to shut up and go away. For months no one in the practice acknowledge my problem or try to come up with a solution. I had several bad falls as a result. I consulted another practice to get a referral to be fitted for a brace to assist me with walking. Eventually, since I didn't go away, I was offered another surgery to see if it could be fixed - no thanks! My main reason for this very bad review is because I was not offered any help or further treatment. It has been a horrible experience."
"On 04/13/2023 I saw Dr. Matthew Dobzyniak for a 2nd opinion on my hip pain. He spent less the 5 minutes in the room with me and was very passive agressive. He did not listen actively to what I said when describing my pain. He did a quick exam and said that the other doctor that I had been to must have been new because he had "never heard of him" and that based on the exam done today that he "must be new". He also commented on my weight (I am larger) and said that if I lost weight then the pain would most likely resolve itself. I came in with the x-rays taken by the first doctor I saw, Dr.Dobzyniak told me and put in his notes "X-rays that she brought in were reviewed. They are not the best x-rays but she does not have acetabular retroversion." He told me that we were going to schedule another injection for my hip (despite me telling him that the first injection did not provide any relief)and that I would receive a call to schedule. I waited a week and no one called from the office. I called myself and the office staff let me know that they did not see the order for the xray. At that point, I decided to go to another doctors office. I went and saw Patricia K Keenan (P.A) at Mary Washington Orthopedics and she ordered an MRI. She was lovely. After receiving the MRI I received the following results 1. There is degeneration and tearing of the anterior superior labrum. 2. Borderline narrowing of the ischiofemoral space with mild intramuscular edema within the quadratus femoris muscle. Findings can be seen with ischiofemoral impingement. If Dr.Dobzyniak had taken the time to listen to me instead of focusing on my weight this could have been resolved faster and I could be in the recovery process."
"Went in to get my knee looked at because I tweaked it playing sports. I told them it was probably ligament or tendon damage and it’s not bone. Still got me to get an X-ray. Then proceeded to schedule me an MRI after no signs of bone damage injury in the X-ray. They schedule me for this Saturday. They just called me twice pressuring me to change my appointment because they want to close early for Labor Day weekend. I reminded them I work in until 4pm Saturday and couldn’t. They said fine and we will keep the scheduled time. Then calls back to tell me my insurance hasn’t even approved the MRI yet after telling me her boss doesn’t want to be open that late. But then pressures me to come in at 6am before I work at 730am. So if my insurance hasn’t approved it wouldn’t you tell me to push back the day of the appointment? Nope just happy they get what they want and get to enjoy their weekend. Get the patient money and get to leave early? It’s a win-win right?"
