Reviews of Hanger Clinic: Prosthetics & Orthotics
"Kris from the Hanger at the Broad Street, VA was great! I have two SpryStep Vector KAFOs for hypertension."
"Everyone there was pleasant! Kevin was exceptional, he went above and beyond when it came to my AFOs, very personable group of people. I definitely feel comfortable going here."
"I have been a type 1 diabetic for 43 yrs and was given a prescription for "diabetic" shoes. The service I received from Hangar was excellent. They worked with me (the shoes I ordered were defective and they reordered another brand). Greg is awesome and works with you. Gives advice on the type of shoe but ultimately it's your decision and he doesn't push anything unnecessary. The reception staff is friendly, helpful and will work to get you an appointment. They let you know upfront if there's any cost. Just a great experience!!!!"
"The ones that care! If I were to sum it up in one sentence, that would be it. I have been to countless numbers of doctors for many many years and I have felt so often the “Just another number” feeling when sitting down with doctors. But The Hanger Clinic is on a whole different level. They actually care about improving your quality of life and wellbeing. They have worked with me down to the finest detail for comfort and fit. The best compliment I ever hear is “I never knew” when someone finds out for the first time about my disability. And without that attention to detail I would be walking with a heck of a bad limp. They are awesome there and I would never hesitate to recommend them to anyone."
"Don't waste your time & money going here for a shoe lift. Not only did they botch a 1/2" lift, which should be easy, they ruined the shoes I just purchased. I have to buy two pairs due to size differences and now I have to buy two more pairs just so I have something to wear and I still won't have the initial problem corrected. I thought since they made custom prosthetics that they would be technically advanced, but apparently not. I went ahead of time because I had never had a shoe lift and asked what type of shoes would work best and received absolutely no advice. They had no recommendations whatsoever, despite the fact that they do this every day. So I went and just bought some shoes with a solid color sole hoping that would work. When I brought the shoes in I was told they were a little thin-soled, but that it would be okay. A week and a half later when I went back in I was given my shoes back and they had glued what appears to be the bottom of a flip-flop to the BOTTOM of my shoe. The shoe was beige, the rubber they used was black, they didn't even bother trying to color-match. Apparently they decided the shoes were too thin to cut and just fused it to the bottom, without bothering to call and let me know before permanently destroying the shoes I had just purchased. I guess at that point, why bother looking at color either..? In terms of "craftsmanship" you can see light through the two layers from the grooves in the original tread. It looks like someone melted part of the toe cap, and the material they use is extremely dense, slick, and has no tread to speak of. I am very active and was planning to use these shoes constantly. If I tried to hike in these I would probably ruin my knee because one foot would be sliding all over the place. I asked if it could be removed-- no it can't. So I asked what material was used-- they don't know. So I guess I'll do some research and figure out myself, because when I get around to buying two more pairs of shoes I'll cut them myself and make my own shoe lift, because I can do it better than Hanger."
