Reviews of Dominion Hospital
"this hospital made me worse. the nurses were cruel and mean and the doctors didnt care. i was on meds that made it hard for me to breath and i threw up a lot of blood. i told my doctor all of this and he said "ok". they dont treat you like a human at all. the only reason why i didnt you know was because i was scared if i failed i would have to go back there. after another paitent harrassed and threatened me the nurses said "dont bother me" when i reported it. another nurse said private medical information to make a example of me. a nurse wouldnt even call me by my preferred name because it was "agiasnt her religon". they made you strip down to check you for scars. the nurses threatened to say that you were grtting worse to keep you their if you did something they thought was bad. this all happened in the CHILD unit. if you send anyone there they will not heal but get worse. and if you read this review and willingly send them there, they will hate you till kingdom come."
"It was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life at a hospital. I was there for the month of February but I kept telling them I wanted to leave. When a person admits themselves they are allowed to leave whenever they want but in order to keep me there they use Against Medical Advice. This means the insurance company doesn’t have to pay and I can’t afford that so I stayed. I was there because my mother died. I was allowed to talk openly about her once. I was given assignments by the therapist focusing on a specific diagnosis not on why I was there which in the end gave me a diagnosis I don’t want and shouldn’t have. A night nurse refused to give me my medication because in her opinion the dose was too high. Eventually she did give it to me but incorrectly and I had to wait about an hour in between the two medications when they were supposed to be given together. I put in a formal complaint and was told that she had that right. I didn’t know that I could have asked for the charge nurse or had the doctor called. Nobody told me my rights. If that had happened at a regular hospital that nurse would have been in serious trouble. I was on a trauma unit and was traumatized further because of the way I was treated by the staff and other patients. Because of this horrible place I will never go into a mental hospital again. They did not help or protect me and I was vulnerable. If I could take action against them I would but I have no means to."
"ANYWHERE BUT HERE! My daughter was a patient here for over a week, during that time she was able to continue to self harm. Patients share rooms, giving them access to others items. Visitation happens in guest rooms, where teen girls come and go while you're trying to visit with your child in private. The hospital seems seriously understaffed and therefore the overall experience is chaotic, adds stress to an already stressful situation and makes families and patients uncomfortable. My daughter wasn't allowed outside for over 10 days because she continued to self harm but no actions were taken to protect her/clean up the rooms where she used garbage to harm herself."
"I went this September and had a really nice experience, I was in the girls adolescent unit and some Of them were really nice and I made a good friend. It was just kinda boring after awhile, doing group, therapy, outside and watching tv 24/7. However the outside court was extremely bleak and depressing. And there was quite a few fights that broke out and at times I felt unsafe. Some of the staff were horrible. And the kitchen staff almost never listened so a lot of the girls would go hungry. A lot of the staff were amazing though. Jason, Zoe, ms K that one gay guy I forgot the name Of. Jacob I think? we’re amazing and I miss this so much. I also really appreciate the music teacher who Gave me ukelele lessons"
"I was transferred by ambulance from Reston Hospital to Dominion Hospital due to doctor error. I arrived with terrible shoulder pain at Dominion Hospital because I have a fracture in my right shoulder and I was wearing a shoulder sling, they took off the sling, took off my clothes and checked my entire body. They took my handbag and cell phone from me. I was never there or heard of that hospital and they told me that I was there because I want to commit suicide and that is a lie. I asked them for something for the pain and they told me they couldn't find my medical information and they gave me Tylenol after 8 hours. Dominion Hospital is a dirty place, it smells ugly, the office is messy and they can't find patient information. I asked to see a doctor from the moment I arrived and they did not pay attention to my requests until the next day in the afternoon when I was able to see 2 doctors. The doctors agreed that I didn't have to be there and discharged me. When they returned my belongings, I realized that the $100.00 I had in cash was missing and I told them, but since I had no proof and they didn't make me sign for any money I had, I couldn't do anything. I do not recommend Dominion Hospital to anyone because the care and service is poor."
