"Very bad behavior with the family if you refuse to take the ventilator off of your elders. I faced this a lot, and every time, my mother was admitted to neuro doctors, and staff forced us to make decisions in their favor. Always take the second opinion from the doctor who is not part of inova."
"I Thank Fairfax Neuro, they were Excellent during my Care and Treatment. I found the Staff to include Dining, and Housekeeping to be very Professional and Warm. I really felt like I was in a 5* Hotel. Thank you for SAVING MY LIFE!!! PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL!!!"
"Terrible experience with Dr. Charlotte M. Kastl at Neurology department. She finds it funny when someone is having significant health issues, and she doesn't agree with what a patient has to say or what the patient thinks is wrong with them. requested to decrease the neurology medication because of several other health issues and their medicines. Side effects of neurology meds are significant. She refused and said it's not the medication but stress, which is causing side effects. Well, I have been taking migraine medication for several months now, and I have a past history of migraines and i know what side effects of medications are. I don't think its okay that the patient is suffering from significant health issues, and she is finding it amusing that they have disabilities. She spent very little time on visit. Her office nurse, who checked vitals and her nurse physician Armstead, are understanding and nice. but it's my opinion that the doctor herself is just disrespectful and not understanding as other doctors."
"I’ve only seen Dr. Lawler at this practice, and so far I’ve had a good experience with her. She’s very knowledgeable and put together a very thorough treatment plan for my chronic migraines. She was very empathetic to my experience and made me feel like she really cares about and understands my frustrations. The only reason for my 3-star review is due to Inova’s scheduling center. They are awful. The first time I scheduled an appointment to be seen for my migraines, they scheduled me to see an epilepsy specialist who could not provide the treatment I’d requested. “Luckily”, that appointment was cancelled by the office and I ended up not being able to make the rescheduled appointment work. I would have been quite upset had I attended the rescheduled appointment, only to find out that it was a waste of my time. I am now dealing with another scheduling ordeal even though Dr. Lawler has put together a clear treatment and scheduling plan for me. We’ve been waiting on insurance approval for my treatment, and despite receiving immediate insurance approval, I was never followed up with to schedule an appointment. I finally decided to call in and schedule an appointment myself after waiting an entire week after receiving the pre-authorization approval. The person I’m talking to right now has no idea what she’s doing. She tried to tell me that I wasn’t an established patient (even though I’ve been seen by Inova for over 10 years), I literally had to read the pre-authorization approval to her and tell her where to find it, and waited on hold for 10 minutes as she figured out how to schedule my appointment before my call was disconnected. Although I’m pretty sure the call was dropped due to poor reception on my end, I was never called back. I ended up calling back myself 20 mins later, and got the same scheduling person… Like why did you just never call me back? Now I’m being told that I have to wait 6 weeks for an appointment, and that I can’t just be seen by another provider in the same office w/o being referred to them. How does that even make sense? This is very frustrating as I’m having to deal with this all while suffering a migraine. The last thing I want to be doing doing right now is sitting on the phone for 45 minutes to schedule an appointment."
"Called to schedule a Zoom consultation for my father suffering dementia and requested a translator to be present so communication of symptoms could be clear and thorough. Zoom session starts 30 minutes later than scheduled with no translator present and the nurse decides to promptly cancel the appointment (that was booked 3 weeks in advance) after a few minutes of failing to communicate without giving my dad a chance to tell me what was happening . I followed up and was told that they dropped the ball on getting the translator online and gave a lip-service apology as we would have to wait another 2 weeks to schedule another zoom call. This practice does not respect the health nor time of prospective patients so save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere."
