Reviews of Courtyard by Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront/South
"Overall, it was a decent hotel during my weeklong stay. Positives: close to everything including the beach; outdoor pool is a good size and pretty private; the "restaurant" is decent although it has a limited menu; staff is pleasant; the room itself was a good size but can be freshened up a bit. Negatives: hotel is crowded; always a wait for the elevator; parking was an issue. The main lot was always full so we parked in the adjacent lot which is an annoyance when carrying luggage; indoor pool looks dank and unappealing; hallways and neighbors can be noisy in the evenings; breakfast is expensive considering slightly cheaper options in the area. I'd stay at this hotel again on the very outside chance I return to Virginia Beach."
"I haven’t had such a bad hotel room since my college days. The bed mattress is so worn if you are t sleeping alone you’ll both end up rolled to the middle of the bed. Springs are completely shot. The upgrade we got, great in theory, horrible in reality. Bed was then on the street side not the beach side so we heard traffic all night. Room heating cooling unit had bright fluorescent red lighting, so we might as well not have drawn the black out curtains. I would compare this to a Motel 6 not at all Courtyard Marriott standards. I ended up sleeping on the fold out couch because that portion of our suite was quieter, the ac/heater unit didn’t have bright lights and the couch had more support than the bed. In the photos you will see the red light unit from the room versus the living room area."
"The views are breathtaking. The rooms could use a deep clean. The one I was in, inside the toilet was black around the rim. A bit of mold in the shower. The front desk service was beyond amazing! I"
"Upon arrival, the front desk clerk was welcoming and professional. She promptly completed the check in and ensured that I was aware of hotel amenities. Later in the evening, my key accidentally came in contact with my phone and was erased. She quickly resolved the issue. The lobby was clean and fairly well maintained. The room was clean, but slightly dated. The sliding door was very hard to open and close. The bed was comfortable. The desk is primarily taken with the nice television. The second day I observed drywall and painting within the lobby. This serves to ensure the property is well maintained and the desire to have a positive first impression. Ultimately, I would return to this hotel."
"My stay wasn't bad but it wasn't as great as I feel it could have been. I can tell that the hotel needs to be remodeled/upgraded. A few cons: -The bathroom had a funny smell to it. -The shower/tub walls were yellow. Sign of aging that feels "dirty". -Ceiling and walls around the tub look worn. Basically you can tell the bathroom needs a complete remodel. -Walking it, the room smelled like feet (stuffy smell) and the carpet felt like it left residue on my feet. You can tell the carpet needs to be cleaned thoroughly or just ripped up. -For someone who has range of motion issues, turning and reaching to get the toilet paper while on the toilet could be an issue. They need to move it closer to the toilet. -Sink has a slow drain so it filled with water while brushing my teeth and washing my face. -Gym could be bigger with more equipment. -Parking lot is small so I suggest getting as many people in one car that you can. It's only one car allowed per room. Any additional cars have to find parking elsewhere, so plan/travel wisely. Pros: - Bed was very comfortable -Wonderful view of the ocean -Staff was extremely friendly -Hotel was quiet and peaceful -Great channel listings/options -Nice sized rooms -Hotel is easy to find -Food and coffee was good -Great service"
