Reviews of Vistar Eye Center
"Do not use this office to schedule surgical procedures! My mom was scheduled for cataract surgery this past Friday. My sister and I both called the scheduler leaving messages when we have not heard of a time for surgery. The surgical staff called at 4:55 pm on Thursday evening with a 6:50 am time for Friday morning. We had previously asked a month ago for the last appointment of the day. We are almost 2 hours away, and mother is 88 years old and doesn’t do well with early mornings. We were assured they would accommodate our requests. Not only did they not give a later time, but apparently were calling the wrong number to set up surgery when my contact numbers were given to the scheduler and the referring doctor. My husband and I both took off a day of work. The office and scheduler did not return calls after we told them 6:50 will not work. My recommendation is to find another office who operates professionally, and who is respectful of your time. Still Friday morning I had to track down staff, still not knowing if mom had surgery scheduled to find out there were no later availability. Many incompetent factors in communication with this office!"
"I have never had anything but the BEST experience at Vistar Eye Center in Salem. I have been going there for many, many years. The staff members are kind and courteous and the physicians I have had... and still have at that facility are the BEST! I would not go anywhere else for vision care."
"I took my son, who has disabilities and the dr was nice. He referred us to the retina specialist and tech was rude to him. The left him setting in the examination chair very long then was very rude to him. I would not recommend them to anyone with disable children or adults. Trust me."
"TERRIBLE!!! wrote down the wrong number for his glasses. We got a small framed pair with NO METAL and when we picked them up they had metal in them and were huge on his face. When we complained they were very rude and didn't do anything about it so we paid 400 dollars for a pair of glasses we didn't order"
"I was seen for a routine eye exam this week with an ophthalmologist. Eye exam did not go well with the tech. She did not do the test where they keep changing the lens to get your best vision. She seemed to do everything else. I am 58 and have had plenty eye tests before but really didn't recall the sequence to everything. She seemed like she was having a bad day with responses like she was upset about something. She never even introduced herself. The tech put drops in my eyes for dilation, and I was asked to go to the second waiting room. After being in the waiting area for some time, my husband came in since he was being seen as well, and he asked me if they did that test I referred to earlier on me, and I responded no. We didn't think much about it at the time but expected that to happen. He was in a different tech's room way before me and got out long after I was in the second waiting room even though i was scheduled first. We both enjoyed seeing the doctor and he seemed knowledgeable. After finalizing payments owed and getting my eye prescription, I remembered that test was never done. How could this be accurate? I was told by two people at this location, my tech said she did the test on me and had data in the system. This includes the doctor himself. I confirmed the test was not done. I felt like I was not being believed and worse the fake results were put into my record. Never have I experienced anything like this in my life. I did not want another test at a later time. Who knows when that would have happened. I respect businesses that listen to their clients or patients. I feel that did not happen here. I was stressed out and the whole thing didn't help with my current medical condition which would not have interfered with any testing. Mistakes are forgivable, but cover-ups are not."
