"UVA pituitary clinic showed absolutely zero care for my wife’s tumor. We never were scheduled a first appointment with the care team. Rather than quickly see my wife with a referral and her MRI’s in hand, we had a to work with a front desk that kept changing what was required for an appointment until our referral expired and we asked her PCM to be referred elsewhere. This clinic failed to initially see my wife who has a pituitary tumor. After requesting an appointment we were told to change the doctors name on the referral. Once the referral name change happened, UVA asked for MRIs and records to be FedEx overnight, which UVA lost and said “ the person that signs for records is at the loading docks, the signage is no use to us”. After making a second copy of my wife’s medical records and FedEx’ing the records UVA complained that MyChart Notes were not good enough and claimed that several MRIs they Received had blank DvDs, then they claimed they’d reach out to my wife’s hospital and request a new DVD which they never did. DVD’s had to be FedEx’d a third time, then the front desk wanted a fax of my wife’s referral, a fax from her PCM and a fax from a referring neurosurgeon before welcoming my wife for her first appointment. As a military member constantly coming and going it is impossible to work with UVA to establish care for my wife's pituitary tumor because the front desk always changed what they wanted just to initially be seen. Some of the people that work at “UVA front desk” don’t even work in state, they telework and show very little remorse to suffering patients. There are hospitals with care teams eager to help like Oschners, Duke, John Hopkins and VCU. Neurosurgeons who graduated from Ivy League schools will see a patient with MRI’s in hand. Don’t sell your self short and settle for substandard patient care, there are better teams out there and please exercise other options available to you. We hope we never have to be seen by UVA for anything ever again."
