Extended Stay America - Colonial Heights - Fort Lee

"My stay at Extended Stay America (Colonial Heights) was a complete disappointment. Despite reserving a room three weeks in advance, it was unavailable upon arrival. The staff's indifference and apparent lack of effort to address the issue were frustrating. Eventually, I was assigned a room with a smaller, uncomfortable bed, accompanied by trash on the floor. The breakfast was the most meager I've encountered at any Extended Stay America, and the so-called "fitness center" was a cramped closet with only three cardio machines. Having stayed at multiple locations without issue, this experience was unacceptable. I promptly switched hotels and won't be returning to this particular Extended Stay America."

"The room was great. But one of the managers just doesn't get the whole customer service part of the hospitality industry. I asked for a pack of oatmeal - which is complementary - and he told me that I couldn't have one because breakfast was over. Mind you this was at 10am on Sunday. Even though the oatmeal and granola bars are literally sitting in a cabinet in the lobby. I went to take one and the the guy yelled at me and threatened to have me banned from ALL Extended Stays...over a free granola bar. He made this big embarrassing scene just so he could throw his weight around. He doesn't have to worry about banning me because I ban myself."

"We were pleasantly surprised to find and extremely clean room and hotel, simply decorated. It was nice having a full size fridge and cooktop, but disappointing that pans, utensils, plates and cups are an extra charge. Their free breakfast is fairly minimal - hardboiled eggs, yogurt (very small), instant oatmeal packets, muffins. Very friendly and personable people at the front desk. Overall, we'd stay again, though we thought it was a little on the pricey side."

"I didn’t even get to check-in and the service was horrible. From the service alone it made me change my mind about staying there. Shelly is RUDE. I don’t know who or what irritated her but she has an attitude problem. I said “Hi, I wanted to know if my room was ready to check in for Hooper.” She didnt even check for my reservation she walked over to the computer and said “if it was you wouldn’t be able to check in now anyways”. I started to ask her about the government rates bc I was curious about my reservation receipt info and she looked annoyed & remained to have an attitude. I have classmates that stay in that hotel and they recommended it. They even spoke on her behalf but imagine if I didn’t know anyone in that hotel to be able to speak on her behalf. She was really rude. The same day I reserved the hotel is the same day I cancelled I’m not staying anywhere, where the staff/service is rude. The maintenance staff had more manners than she did. I think they should switch."

"Overall it's a fair hotel to stay at. My issues were, for an "extended stay" it's not that great. The rooms are overly simplistic with no dressers to store clothes and no proper closet for hanging clothes. I stayed here for 33 days and would have loved for it to have an actual dresser or chest of drawers for my clothes. All that was there was a small cubby that didn't allow for any organization of clothes. The location is pretty good, close to shopping, food, and gas. If you were to be staying here for a night or two probably be a great spot but for any real extended stay, it left me wanting for something more. Also if you're going to charge for laundry give me a real breakfast and not snacks. They advertise as having breakfast but it's just granola bars and small muffins. If that's your breakfast don't charge me for laundry."
