"I would recommend Modal music to literally anyone, from beginners on up. I was taking guitar lessons from Dan before Modal opened. I followed because he doesn't just teach music, he teaches me music. He knows me...how I learn, what I'm capable of, what kinds of music I'd be more inclined to practice. His understanding of music theory is superb, and he can teach music written by Henry VIII or the Beatles. Probably most important, he's relatable with a wide range of abilities and ages. I've witnessed how he interacts with younger students and it's pretty great. Finally, I've met two of the other guys working at Modal and they are all really good people. If you have any inclination (or fear) about learning an instrument...make Modal your first call."

"I started learning online with Dan Mudge about a year ago during June of 2020. Learning and practicing guitar has been a real blessing and something I had wanted to learn for a long time and even in the first year I have gotten exponentially better than when I started. Going in person and having a super chill environment to just practice and talk about guitar and music and learning concepts of song structure when you are first learning to scales and music theory and how notes fit into other notes is really awesome. "Lessons were always great. The teachers here understand a good balance between learning technique/theory through exercises and learning songs and riffs so you can have fun on your instrument. Before I started working with Dan I had terrible technique and was pretty directionless, but after taking lessons with him my technique improved significantly, I knew how to practice, and I had direction for my playing. Dan helped me get into music school by arranging and transcribing my audition pieces (and of course teaching me them). Overall, the teachers here know what they're doing and its never just about a paycheck for them.
