"I am thrilled about finding a care team that really cares! Thank you!"
"I don't think some ot the patients understand FCHC and it's stucture. It is a 501C.3 non-profit that provides 30-40 percent of its care to uninsured patients. COVID has severely affected their ablity to serve in a negative way. They have been trying and praying for several years that another doctor would join their practice but so far no qualified candidate has joined the practice because they are a ministry and not a money making medical practice. They have saved countless lives of uninsured patients who would have died had they not been served by Dr. Stinar and his dedicated staff. I have never had anything fall through the cracks in 10 years of care. That is not to say the unhappy reviewers did not have a bad experience, I'm just saying I am aware of what they are up against trying to serve both insured and uninsured. They MUST have limits on thier service to uninsured or they would have to close their doors. I don't know the numbers but I am certain that their payscale is considerably lower than any of the for-profit practices in the area. So one of the recptionists was not overly friendly - so what? Most of the staff is wonderful. They work long hours for little pay because the ARE Christian peopl who believe in what they are doing. Of course there is going to be staff turn over under these conditions. Lastly, Dr. Stinar is a man of competence and great faith in his calling to this minstry. Despite personal tragedy, he has kept this practice going not only as the doctor but until lately, the COO, hiring manager, etc., etc. I can't count the number of hats he was wearing. I am not asking unhappy patients to come back. I am just providing background to help people understand how hard these people work and how hard they struggle to provide as much quality medical care for as many people as possible and still keep their doors open. Pray for them, support them if you can financially and don't be too quick to judge. They are helping uninsured people when no one else will."
"This place has been a blessing to me. My doctors take time to hear my concerns and questions. I am never rushed. And I don't have a long wait for appointments. They do a lot for the community."
"Staff Very friendly & my Dr very thorough. I like the way Dr. Michael Carter explains everything health wise & medicine information. He is great. My very first time meeting him was a great impression at itβs best."
"My elderly mother chose this practice (I will not say "received care", because that is NOT what happened) for several years (influenced by an 'endorsement' from Spotswood Baptist). During her time with this practice, she began to suddenly lose weight and have serious digestive issues that did not resolve and were not clinically addressed during multiple visits. Over a period of years, this practice and 2 others failed to provide a continuum of care that would have acknowledged and addressed that these were markers for a very serious illness. By the time I insisted she go to a Gastroenterologist, she had Stage IV metastasized colon cancer. My personal experience with the practice while assisting her is that the practice is woefully inefficient at addressing even the most simple patient requests (RX refills, for example) and it appears that "Dr. Stinar" failed to provide the appropriate (and obvious) continuum of care that could have resulted in a much earlier diagnosis of a very serious illness. While prayer has a place in hoping for a positive medical outcome, the entire staff - from the front desk to, specifically, the Dr.'s - should spend less time "proselytizing and praying" and more time practicing clinically-based medicine while competently addressing the very serious and valid concerns of those under their care."
