"Was a dedicated patient there and loved the doctors, however when it comes to paying, there’s a serious problem. I didn’t even know I owed them money! No letters no calls or anything requesting an 100$ amount I could’ve easily paid if I knew I owed it. I figured out I owed money when I called to make an appointment and the front desk lady said “ we have a policy that if you don’t pay for an appointment you can’t make another one” in which I said okay so let me pay what I owe, and the lady was like “ you can’t pay it anymore it’s in collections” I said “okay so what collectors do I need to pay?” The lady put me on hold and I never got the information and went about my life thinking a debt collector will most likely contact me. Fast forward three years later they’re taking me to court and have been charging me 6% interest SINCE 2020!!! Now I have to go to court for an amount I was never told about! DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE! Go with a lawyer to read the contract they force you to sign."
"Called to make an appointment and because I have a sore throat that’s extremely painful I’m 13 weeks pregnant and I was offered a tell a health visit like a FaceTime. I mentioned that I would like to see someone in person since I got things going on and the office staff said she recommended I go back to patient first to be seen. (I don’t want to wait for 3 hours that’s why I called my primary) What’s the point of having them as a primary care if they are unwilling to see patients she also mentioned they have kids that come into the office like even my son’s pediatrician takes in person visits for suspected Covid cases. It’s really frustrating to know this is the care they provide."
"The administrative staff is incompetent, unprofessional, and rude. They are very hard to reach, they make terrible mistakes in billing and other issues, and it takes them many months to correct these mistakes. They do not care about you and have almost no communication skills. For three years, I have been trying to be patient with them because I liked my physician. But what happened today has been too much. I came to my appointment, which I got three months ago, only to find out that my doctor is on leave this week. They called me at 7:50 am (I woke up at 8 am) during the appointment day and the day before. When I called them during office hours and left a message after being unable to reach them, they did not call back. It was unclear whether a 7:50 am call was for an automatic reminder or something else. Moreover, they did not send texts or emails (most Virginia health centers do). They defend this as an official policy. What is worse is when I told them that I drove 50mins under heavy rain and there must have been a way to reach out to me, they did not allow me to talk, interrupted and scolded me. I had never experienced anything like this. Not being listened to was demeaning and insulting. Not to mention wasting about two hours and driving under heavy rain. I am a faculty member, and my time is valuable, like everyone else's. Please avoid this place if you can. Incompetent people disrespecting you is not an easy experience."
"Doctor Mendel and his team provide the best medical care I've ever seen. For 25 years he has taken care of my entire family, combining accurate diagnosis and compassion on every visit. Simply put, Doctor Mendel is what every doctor should aspire to become."
"Dr Mendel is a medical nerd! (Good thing). He loves his job and I have absolute confidence in his diagnosis skills. He even listens to counter arguments and considers them. The office is really busy. Get a morning appointment because it’s obvious that Mendel spends more time with his parents than he should, so as the day goes in, he gets behind. He’s overworked and overbooked, but doesn’t let it affect his attitude and personality. I trust this guy! Nurse Donna is also awesome, but a bit faster and less diagnostic. If you need a checkup or physical or something routine, she’s great. She probably will stay in schedule and you won’t have a long wait. But it won’t be as in-depth as a Mendel visit."
