"Very comfortable and homely rooms, that are a reasonably short walk from town. Inn keepers are very kind and accomodating people especially to a nervous, anxious traveller like myself. A significant indicator of the character of the innkeepers was how kind, helpful and patient they were as we struggled with international card payments. Breakfast was also very nice. Whether I wanted to try a varied multi course cooked breakfast or just have some toast and coffee they accommodated my wishes."
"It happened to be a last-minute retreat. They were just going to stay at a local motel but I happened to stumble across this wonderful quaint bed and breakfast tucked behind a bustling city. I was lucky enough when I called they had one room available the jacuzzi room. Also known as the blue willow room. I love homes that are built in the 1800s and this did not disappoint. The decor is fantastic and the warmth and friendliness is second to none. If you're looking for a short reprieve from the city life, duck into the Poplar Inn and you'll find yourself meeting two wonderful owners who provide fresh snacks daily and a wonderful breakfast in the morning. I'm not a caffeinated coffee drinker, but Marty made sure I had a picture of decaf at my ready. Victoria took the time to greet and mingle with her guests. I have never had more attentive hosts at any place I've ever stayed. They're accommodating with food and beverages. I will definitely be staying here again in the future.."
"The Inn at Poplar Hill is amazing. We often have a hard time finding places that will accommodate us with our 130 lb German Shepherd. Not only did they accommodate us, they had everything set up for us and our dog. Everything from the grounds to the rooms, the service, and the food. We were greeted by Marty at the front door who had already scheduled us a visit at a local winery. Marty had our room ready to go, gave us directions to the winery and off we went. It was first class. That night they made us reservations are a great restaurant that would allow our dog to dine with us on the patio. The following morning we were served an amazing 3 course breakfast and walked the amazing trails on the grounds with our pup. You cannot beat the grounds and service. Truly a top notch act. Thank you for your hospitality and having us in your home!"
"This Inn is the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway! It is located in the adorable town of Orange and is surrounded by VA wine country. Marty and his wife were the sweetest, most gracious hosts who went out of their way to help my boyfriend and I plan our weekend. Marty made us reservations at a delicious local restaurant and gave us recommendations for activities to do during the day. On Saturday, Marty drove us around to multiple different vineyards for wine tastings so we didn't have to worry about scheduling a shuttle service, it was so convenient! It was like our own private wine tour! There were always fresh brownies in the entry area and the breakfast was so delicious. I highly recommend staying here for a cozy weekend away!"
"Six years ago my husband and I were married in a private ceremony at the Inn on Poplar Hill and it was a lovely experience. Victoria and Marty were accommodating to our vegetarian diet and they know the perfect balance between being friendly, socialable and helpful and letting you enjoy some privacy during your stay. This year we went back with our infant daughter to celebrate our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised when Marty and Victoria had upgraded us to the room we stayed in the weekend that we were married. Once again we were impressed by their helpfulness and kindness. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful, it is in a convenient location and the food is EXCEPTIONAL! If we could go there just to enjoy breakfast, we would. We will certainly be back to celebrate more anniversaries in the future!"
