"Rude security officer at the entrance to the parking deck. He stopped me in the middle of the lane and made me roll down my window and asked why I was there. I told him I’m visiting my niece in the acute care unit and he said i could not park there because I don’t have an appointment. He said only people with appointments can park at the hospital. WHAT?! It is a HOSPITAL not a doctor’s office, since when do they not allow visitors to park at the hospital?? This has got to be against VCU policy and I feel for those who had to circle half the city to find parking to visit their sick loved one"

"Honestly the worst! For a children’s hospital they’re very uncaring and incompetent. Doctor told me blood work and urine wouldn’t tell me what’s going on with my child. It’s a shame that this place is so new but it honestly doesn’t live up to the expectations and name. My child apparently had a nurse but didn’t see her for the first 3 hours. The check in nurses are great nonetheless."

"If I could give this place zero stars I would, we had the worst experience in the surgery department. My son got his circ. done at around 13 months old. His father and I arrived with our son early for his appointment, we were worried but wanted to be timely to ask questions and be professional. Our son went back for surgery around 6:30AM-ish and we were texted that he was in recovery around 8:00AM-ish. We weren’t called back to see him until around 11AM. We were excited to see our son and give him cuddles as i’m sure he was scared waking up in an unfamiliar place without his mommy and daddy in the room. We walked back to be told that VCU called CPS on us for a minor bruise on his arm. They held all three of us for 10 hours only offering our son cheerios, juice and milk. No food until around 2:30/3:00 after asking for over an hour if he was going to get food. We didn’t prepare food for him since we expected to be able to leave shortly after he got out of recovery. My son’s father was accused of child abuse, more specifically was accused of biting our son. We were both interrogated separately by a detective, 2 CPS employees and a VCU social worker about the incident causing the minor bruise, I understand protocols and doing your job but they couldn’t have been more wrong. Our son is a very well loved child, and the situation caused me to have extreme PTSD and paranoia of taking our son to any doctor that isn’t his primary care. VCU will NEVER EVER see our son again. I hope others will read our story and reconsider having your child seen at this horrible establishment."

"Took my son who attempted suicide to the hospital and they discharged him without omitting him. Sent us home with instructions to watch him closely. Went to another hospital and they found more than enough reasons to keep and give him the help he needed. Took millions to build a beautiful building just to be a waste of space. The Dr. there was incompetent! Don’t waste your time here go somewhere else that truly cares about the patient instead of avoiding costs!!"
