Reviews of Shenandoah River Outfitters
"We used SRO to go canoeing on vacation. It was a scenic ang long drive to get to the location. The staff was very welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. We went on a Wednesday afternoon during the low season. So, they had specials on pricing and some options were not available due to low water levels. We ended up doing a tandem canoe. Once you watch a short safety video and are fitted for your paddle and life vest, you hop on a bus and they drive you 10 minutes up river. They drop you off, help you in the water, and you’re on your own to paddle. The water levels were incredibly low, the water was clear, the trees and surrounding landscape was incredibly beautiful. There were some fish, turtles, and birds. We signed up for the two hour trip, but it took us less than 90 minutes. They picked us up at the designated pick-up time and drove us back to the main store. One note for improvement for SRO could be to make the numbered signs bigger. It was difficult ily to see the numbers from the river. Anyway, I highly recommend! It was fun during low season with low water, so I’m sure it’s great during high season and high water tides! We also saw a family of varying ages signing up for a raft. So, it’s also family friendly (grandparents to grandchildren)."
"We went with two families of four for overnight camping and rafting. The campsite was extremely laid-back, friendly, and clean. The team at the front desk were helpful and informative. Our rafting trip the next morning was well organized and a lot of fun. We would definitely recommend to others and look forward to going back soon."
"We've been coming to SRO since the late 80s. First, before having kids, then bringing our children as they grew up and now with them as adults. Next summer our granddaughter will be bug enough to join in as well! We love camping, canoeing/kayaking and tubing with SRO. We especially love when they offer lunch on the river followed up by steak dinner at the camp ground. Makes it so easy not to have to pack a bunch of food. It's so nice to see so many of the same staff/owners there year after year. They must love what they do because every single one them is hustling the whole time. Hard work for sure. Looking forward to our next SRO trip."
"We have been doing the rafting activity with Shenandoah River Outfitters for the past 10 years now and its always a fun family experience. We normally come during weekdays in the summer vacation so its not that busy the there is abundant parking. Our favorite is a raft from point 16 to 19 (the short trip) because the river is pretty lazy at that time and we like to jump in the cool fresh water. The staff is friendly, the equipment is in good condition and the ride to and from the river is bumpy :) We do a lot of rafting in many places and we can always take our do in the raft but unfortunately this venue does not allow dogs :("
"Super nice staffs! Very busy on the weekends, but they do get everyone out in a timely manner. They are very throughout with the mapping of the river and they make sure to let you know about the shallow parts. There are several deep parts about the route if you chose to canoe. Do the longer route!"
