"I wasn't expecting to wait that long. Triage and registration were nice but I felt like the nurse and especially dr rushed me once I was back there. Not rushed as in they didn't take forever but I felt the need to repeat some concerns. AND my meds were sent to the wrong pharmacy today even after the nurse said she'll make sure the dr fixes that issue before I left last night. AND I literally heard another patient being fussed at by a dr for being rude to his nurses but it was kind of loud and somehow made me uncomfortable. The rest has nothing to do with people but the waiting room and bed in the back were very uncomfortable"
"Monday night I was in ER. And the RN seemed damn near clueless and screwed up blood test and kept having to retake them. Don't remember name.left on own accord after 6.5 hours. Had to go back next day give more blood again. And went back Tuesday night following up results. Had diff caregivers. NP Maureen and Traveling RN rich I believe was his name. They were amazing and cared and didn't rush threw anything. Got me answers and treatment. Amazing. Don't let these two get away. We need more health care workers who care about their patients."
"My mother stayed here and the RT thought it was best to remove oxygen from a 63 year old patient with COPD and congestive heart failure. Her O2 stats dropping in the low 80s when she gets moving around and she thought that depriving a patient oxygen was a great idea. What a joke of a hospital!"
"I had VERY positive experiences in both the ER and general surgery. Very kind, attentive staff. The ER nurse told me that people rarely have to wait very long (if at all) for a bed. Dr. Weems is an incredible surgeon. It is a small hospital but it seems like they everyone knows what they are doing."
"My review is for the ER front entry and Birth Center: I went to the hospital in an urgent matter due to something with my pregnancy. My midwife who is caring for me during homebirth set up my entry so when I arrived the paperwork and insurance information was all set. I just had to walk in, sign a tablet contract of agreement and go up to the room. I was offered a chair but chose to walk just due to feeling overwhelmed. Immediately nurses and a midwife were assessing me, taking vitals, and monitoring the baby. I had an exam done which was explained to me beforehand. Ended up stay Fri thru Sunday for monitoring but didn’t need an emergency surgery which I was so glad. The nurses were all friendly, considerate and worked well altogether which made the “team” supportive to me. We were vocal about our concerns with medications and how my birth was to be unmedicated unless an emergency came. Over the 3 days, I was offered a massage, help in and out of my bed, nurses answered my buzzer within seconds usually and they genuinely showed concern and companionship to my husband and I. We came in very nervous and anxious about the issues and everyone really showed empathy to us for that. I had been asked Sat morning if I wanted to be induced, I declined. I was also asked by the doctor on call if I wanted my membrane scratched for induction during my exam, I declined. They said they don’t unless they have confirmation- which I appreciated because I’ve heard stories that some women were unaware when that happened to them. I started showing signs that I was well, and they allowed me to get off the IV, then let me eat solids again (yay!!), and then the midwife on Sunday did a very informative exam and spent time discussing with me the importance of the situation if I have another cause for concern to come back in, but after the ultrasound they released me to go home. I am so grateful for the concerns and compassion from the nurses we received care from. My night nurse Tiffany was such a peaceful, calm caregiver that she would come in while I was asleep and be taking my vitals and I barely had to wake up. Sleeping in the hospital (add while pregnant) is not fun at all, but the care I received made it a better experience that I could ignore that complaint. Had I known though that the reclining chair was actually comfortable I probably would’ve slept in that vs the bed! The reason I give a 4, is mainly due to the fact that having not really used the hospital before we didn’t understand “room service” and it was not explained to us until Saturday evening. But it was an emergency and all hands were on deck that Friday night. Once I got put back on solid foods I ordered whatever I wanted and stocked up for a midnight meal too! Which after only having smoothies my husband made at home and not having had dinner before going, was so worth it. Eggs were great, cakes were great, club sandwich and burger was great. I did not really like the hashbrowns or pancakes, they were undercooked and gritty. I WILL say, they did care about my allergy to caffeine, I was not allowed to order choc chip pancakes! My allergy is really to liquid caffeine, not chocolate, but they stuck to protocol. I do not desire to go back and be admitted….. or give birth in a hospital. However if it came to it, I would feel secure in going there knowing what I know now. ♥️"
