Reviews of Cone Health Women's & Children's Center at Moses Cone Hospital
"Cone Health Women’s & Children’s Center at Moses Cone Hospital treated my twins absolutely terrible during their nicu stay. The nurses physically abused one of my twins, skipped their feeds, left them laying in poop when I would step away for 2-3 hours max. They refused me a room with a bed while recovering from my c-section, stating that was not something they offered despite their website saying otherwise. I had to stayed on an extremely small couch later to find out they did have rooms available with beds and our final week out of our 60 day stay I was transferred to the room after making a formal complaint. I have many pictures of the incidents of abuse but I will not post on here as they are extremely triggering. We later found out they were doing unnecessary treatment and radiation on one of our twins for a study/research. It is scary how people will treat innocent babies. I am a senior analyst for an insurance company and this will not end here. I just needed to warn anyone who will read the reviews, do not get treated here. Minus 2 AMAZING nurses and 3 amazing doctors out of many, the experience we had was extremely traumatic. After their 60 day stay, I had to begin intensive therapy for all the trauma they had me, my husband and babies endure. Please beware and do not get treatment at this facility."
"I’m a first time mom and I just delivered here on 1/21/24. Everyone that I’ve come into contact with was amazing. I had a great support team while delivering my daughter and couldn’t have done it without them. My experience here was overall pretty positive and I’ll definitely come back here again if I have more kids."
"AMAZING! I had a long hard labor ultimately resulting in a c-section after 20 hours and I literally could not have done it without the nurses in labor and delivery. Jordan and Erica were my nurses and they were BEYOND kind, thoughtful, and reassuring even when things started to take a stressful turn. Not only were my nurses the BEST, I encountered many nurses that were not even "mine" and the care they delivered also exceeded every expectation. Everyone worked together to make sure my baby came into the world safely but on top of that everyone made sure that they took the time to calm my fears and keep me in the loop. I am so grateful to have been cared for and uplifted by so many strong amazing women and it really helped shape my birth story in a positive light. Also special shoutout to the anesthesiology team who also worked very hard to get their job done and exhibited amazing care while doing so. If I ever have another baby this is without a doubt the place I hope to be."
"I was starting to lose hope for this place. My daughter was scheduled to have a c-section on Nov. 9th. Things with her condition changed and her doctor told her we could move ahead on the 9th with an elective induction if she wanted to. We got word that the hospital was too busy that day and could not get her in for an induction. We then got word from her doctor that she had an induction scheduled for 11:45 Saturday night on the 11th. We got a call at 10pm asking for her to be on stand by they weren't able to get her in. All day Sunday she waited by the phone for a call that never came. I was beginning to lose hope that they were on their A game here. My daughter was uncomfortable and getting so disappointed in waiting and being put off. At 3 am Monday morning her water broke so it was go time ready or not. From the minute we walked in the door we were taken to the first place where they assess your labor/condition to warrant being admitted. Everyone was very kind and friendly. We spent some time in that area and were well cared for. We were then moved up to Labor and Delivery. This was the best floor! All of the nurses were amazing, super attentive and kind. My daughter had one on one care and even though her labor was long and ended up in a c-section after 20+ hours we felt like she was in the best hands. What an amazing team the day and night crew and even the nurses that weren't assigned to my daughter all pulled in as a team when we encountered a few scary points with the baby's heart rate changing. My daughter delivered her first child a sweet baby boy late Monday night. We were moved up to the mother baby unit and the nurses and lactation consultants were fabulous on this unit as well. Even a security officer took time to show me around to multiple vending machines- all my daughter wanted was a sprite. The cafeteria was closed for turn over for lunch, Panera only had Pepsi products. When I tell you this man took me to the heart center, the basement of the women's department and the ER waiting room to find us a vending machine that had Sprite ..he was SO kind. We completely understand people having elective inductions get put on the back burner for those in active labor and we were so fortunate and so happy to be well taken care of. Thank you so much for making my daughter's first birth experience as comfortable as possible."
"I have mixed emotions about the Women & Children's Center. I gave birth to my daughter here in August of '23, and the cons and pros ratio out to 50/50. There are some amazing and selfless people who work here. Chelsea and Christy from the L & D ward were nothing but supportive, knowledgeable, and incredibly sympathetic whenever I was having any kind of issue (like my epidural failing 3 times before it finally took on the 4th try). Deven and Rachel from the Mom and Baby ward were also friendly and kind, and also offered a lot of great and helpful advice. Caroline from the Lactation Consultant team was my favorite person there at the hospital. She's so incredibly attentive, kind, and supportive. I wish the hospital could duplicate her and spread her throughout the hospital! Other staff I had or ran into were okay to be around, but there were definitely a handful that should NOT be working there at the hospital. There was a Melissa who came to work in the Mom ward after a staff shortage, and she was nothing but unpleasant. She brought me diapers 4 hours after letting her know I needed them and had the fakest smile plastered on her face. There is an older black woman who works the nights for the Lactation Consultants, and she was incredibly rude, unpleasant, and yanked my clothes off of me and grabbed at my body without much concern. She made my lactation consultant experience a nightmare, and I reported her to more than one person. Dr. Miller- the anesthesiologist who administered my epidurals- was incredibly unsympathetic, and what I felt was unprofessional when it comes to handling and being around women who are nervous or first time mothers. He even had the audacity to give me the side eye when he had to come in and try for a FOURTH time to get my epidural right because he kept messing up. There are administrative staff here that seem to be willing to hold people like this accountable, so I reported who I needed to and urge anyone else who deals with lackluster care or bedside manner to do the same. I also had to ask for several items over and over without being asked (such as diapers, wipes, baby blankets, and more) and was never told about the nutrition room on the Mom ward until my Mom discovered it one visit. Overall, I would return to the W&C center if need be, with the understanding that there will be characters there with lazy, rude, or condescending attitudes or behaviors."
