"I was staying at Shenandoah NP when my dog needed a vet to look at his ear which all of a sudden was driving him crazy. The clinic totally blew me off & so I went to their competitor Blue mt vet clinic where they greeted me warmly & squeezed us in around their normal (& busy) day. Turned out to be an ear infection which when treated by the vets at blue mt yielded immediate relief. Enough said"
"Been a patient for 9 years, my dog needed a sick visit and I was told she definitely needed to be seen to take her to an emergency vet or find another vet I am comfortable with. They could not get her in until 10 days later. I would recommend for routine visits, shots etc. But if your fur baby falls sick don’t count on them to be able to accommodate or fit you in."
"Very unpleasant person to deal with. I Called office with Very specific needs and questions. I explained my situation very clearly. My dog needed appointment/ check up and shots to fly with America airlines. Asked if she provided these services? Was she familiar with paperwork. Was told yes. Made an appointment that was a week out ( their soonest appointment available). I explained that my flight was canceled due to this issue, thanked them for appointment. When at appointment Mrs. Matthew's walks in room puts hand on forehead and tells me she doesn't have the time or energy to do this. Along with inaccurate information. We had nessary paperwork with us had anyone bother to glance at. Would have been nice to know she had no intention of doing anything at all for us at our appointment. I Even called to confirm time of appointment. I was brought in to office for this. I would not recommend her to anyone. Unprofessional, Rude, Unorganized, lack of concentration of other's. This is my first review. Hope it saves you some time."
"First visit brought Gina my sweet dog who has issues going to the vet. She walked right in and was happy to go back and meet her new doctor. She came back so happy. That in itself tells me this is a great place to take your animals. Tiger my cat did not freak out she was a bit anxious but stayed real sweet so again, this shows the people that brought her back to be examined are amazing and caring. A definite plus in my. Ok! Definitely recommend this vet."
"We got two cute kittens from our neighbor, and one had a little bit bigger head than the other; he was otherwise absolutely fine. We called around to find a vet that would see them the same day, which is what brought us here. We arrived to our 3:15 p.m. appointment, (against our better judgment) pulled into this dilapidated parking lot next to a sketchy, unlabeled, unprofessional, almost vacant-looking building, waited in our car until a woman in scrubs came out, told the woman that the one kitten had a little bit of a bigger head, and she proceeded to take the kittens inside. They are still doing curbside because of COVID (I'm guessing), so we sat out in the car not being able to see or know exactly what was happening. Dr. Donna Matthews then comes out to my driver's side window a couple minutes later, I roll it down, and she says, "Well, the one with the big head has something called hydrocephalus. They're both boys by the way. So anyway, they can live anywhere from six months to a year to sixteen years with hydrocephalus. There's no way of knowing for sure unless we do a diagnostic test, but that runs around $2,500. Honestly, I wouldn't have even noticed his head being bigger if you hadn't said something about it. It's up to you what you want to do. You know, should we let you leave here with him or not? You could save yourself the heartbreak, and we can just 'take care of it today,' you know, knowing that there are so many other kittens in the world. They're born every day. Or we can let you take him home and have your heart broken." Obviously we chose to keep the kitten even though she was CLEARLY trying her hardest to convince us to euthanize him! How despicable! Dr. Donna Matthews has absolutely NO bedside manners, and I honestly don't see why someone who feels that way about animals is a veterinarian! If you can't love and treat each animal like it is your own, then find a different profession! I left there that day so blood-boiling angry I could have exploded, but I somehow managed to keep my cool. If not for the fact that they had my kittens in there without me, I would have refused to pay for that awful experience with such a heartless, so-called "doctor." You know what? There are "so many other" vets in the world as well, which is the reason why Luray Clinic of Veterinary Medicine will NEVER get my business or my money EVER again! Save yourself the trouble and go to a vet who actually cares about you and your pets!"
