Red Roof Inn Virginia Beach - Norfolk Airport 5745 Northampton Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23455

"TLDR; Bed bugs AND robbed in the same night. Refused to refund my mother. I stayed here over Christmas 2023, and we completely expected a no frills experience, so the fact that the shower worked fine, it didn't smell like cigarettes, and the cable had many channels felt accommodating. I should've read the reviews and all the accounts of bed bugs beforehand: I had a single bite the first night and didn't think much of it, but each night more emerged and it took me no more than 30 seconds of looking to find a fat bedbug just inside the fitted sheet. I stripped the bed looking for more and found the telltale line of spots that bugs will poop after feeding, among other unsavory trash and remnants, but no big bugs like the one that was eating me. I put it in a cup and the staff wouldn't look at it, refused to confirm its existence and encouraged me to throw it away, but would NOT give a refund until an exterminator came to the room, which would be at least three days after we left. I left the cup sealed in the room for the exterminator to find, but the motel claimed there were no bugs found, and they would only give us 1 night reimbursed. If this sounds like a reason not to stay, this was violating but not as costly as the other problem: The day before I found this bug and pleaded with the staff to take the bugs seriously, my mom's room was broken into while we were gone in the daytime. They took cash, a new ipad, a keypad, an unopened alcohol bought the night before, around $1700 worth of property. My mother called the police and the staff said they do have cameras that should identify the thief BUT that room (162) is beyond the camera's view, and that made us all think this was an inside job. According to the staff, the only way they would have any liability for burglary was if we announced all expensive property and cash the day we moved in (?!?). Does that sound like a way to get your wallet NOT stolen?? If you feel sketched out by the people and the location, it might be because there are desperate regulars who will scope you out and steal your stuff when you leave. I don't think Red Roof Inn intentionally houses bugs or thieves, but they won't protect you from these threats, and that makes it a safe place for them, not us. We ultimately would've saved money if we paid for a more expensive place or Airbnb with better/any protection insurance."

"I was in Virginia Beach for a wedding in late September 2023 and chose this hotel because of the course proximity to the wedding and reception. The room was typical Red Roof Inn, not much different from others I've stayed in. Room was clean. Check in was quick. No problems with check out. I was only here for a couple nights but there were no complaints from me. Plus, it's close to several restaurants."

"This hotel is in need of some serious updating and maintaining. The lack of carpet is a plus. The cleanliness could seriously be improved. I was on travel with co-workers and we decided to stay closer to the airport for an early flight (6am). The towels in one room had hair embedded on the wash cloth and towel. The toilet in another room looked as if someone had used it after eating 12 white castle burgers. Some serious time and money needs to be put into making this nicely located hotel a little more appealing."

"Worst experience in my life. Cockroach found in room. Pool was nothing but a solid layer of bugs on the top and a layer of some kind of yuck on the bottom. We were treated like dirt over asking for more towels during our 2-night stay for two rooms, seven people, and only started with six towels anyway. On our final night, water started pouring into our bathroom from the light fixture. The man on duty that night told us it was clean toilet water, "no poop, no pee, kids stuffed something into the toilet and it overflowed". Um ... Gross. We ended up having to change rooms AGAIN around midnight because of this issue. When attempting to talk to the site manager, he was rude, hateful, and hung up on me three different times. We still have not gotten this issue resolved and it's been two weeks!!"

"Only hotel in Norfolk I know of that let you bring your dog that an extra charge.. they've always been awesome Update I've stayed here two more times since the last review I'm local I actually stay like 4 minutes away from this location. Sometimes I just want to get out of the house lol. Every time I've, I've had no problem with you guys and I've even woke up late when they don't check out day and the maids were still nice.. you guys will always be the choice over any other hotel in the area. My dog is with me and I will go nowhere without her. You guys are the only people that will let you bring your dog without an extra charge in the rooms are still nice. Please keep that policy that is the best thing in the world. A lot of people have animals support animals excetera and it's really nice to be able to know that you can bring your companion animal with you. I even left my pillows one stay and they were in the office waiting for me to come pick them up. I hope y'all don't go anywhere I love this location"
