Reviews of Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy
"Commonwealth challenge changed my life all the way back in 1996. Col Bean was in charge and msgt foster was my platoon commander. I passed my GED and started on a path towards service in the marine corps. I was in the 4th class to graduate in June of 1996. I highly recommend this program for any youth 16-18 years old."
"From a past cadet and returned as a cadre was one of the most fulfilling experience of my life. I love this place and owe so much to it."
"This place changed my direction gave me so much at the end I truly didn't want to go home , I volunteered best choice ever .I'm a Hero because of Commonwealth Challenge " Check that gig line ".. CADET ! LOL the only thing I've ever truly felt at part of I think they need help these day I shall make way and do my best . We can't be loosing ChalleNGe I think it's a great idea to volunteer and lend a hand for the future generations .It's a place to go and there's rules but , totally worth it. I'm didn't join any branch , lots of my friends did class of winter 99/2000 so AWESOME Fort A.P Hill after a overnight blizzard ...... What " hellweek " ? . Did better then most thought and graduated with my GED became a Industrial Technician the hard way grease and busted knuckle , but I haven't met a dream I could not build yet . Thanks to Volunteering for a ChalleNGE ."
"I was there class 58 and we lost 10 girls in the first 3 days and then continued to loose girls while the guys were just move form one platoon to another if there were issues with that boy. The girls didn't do as much as the guys and the female cadres kept quitting so we were very under staffed in our platoon. There were even days that the girls platoon had cadres from the boys platoons working our platoon because we didn't have a cadre for that day. I got kicked out and it has been 4 months since then and I am still waiting for them to send me all of my stuff that I was not able to get when they kicked me out. I have emailed and called and left messages for the Director and other staff members and we still have not heard back from them. I do have one good thing about them is that if you need your high school credits it is very easy to get them while you are there and you can even get your GED instead. Also my brother was there class 54 and we love you Master Sergeant Boykins."
"I was there for class 54 from October 2020- March 2021. During the COVID 19 pandemic it was a bit challenging but what challenge without the challenges . I really enjoyed my time there and they have really helped a lot to get me back on the right path.I excelled quickly throughout the program and got silver and gold phase on the first try and became the first sergeant of the company by the end of the program and earned the distinguished honor graduate award along with my GED. Through the program I was able to join a trade school where I’ve learned welding and is now certified in various types of welding. I am so grateful for this program and for what all the staff and ATACS have done for me . I highly recommend going here it is a real life changer."
