Reviews of The Iron Asylum Gym - Norfolk
"If you like management run by kids and walking around like you’re in a can of sardines at 5:00, then this gym is for you. Seriously, this place is a complete joke. Don’t get scammed into thinking this is a golden-era lifting gym either. All you get is loud music full of cussing you didn’t ask for (so good luck meditating) and waiting to work in with somebody. Even their sauna is on a timer and one dude blew me off when I asked him to restart it for me. If the other chains are anything like this I’m walking. Don’t be like me, save your money kids."
"Best life physical therapy is the best. Been going there for 3 months. They are knowledgeable and efficient. I had a great time there. Too bad my job only allowed me to go to only 18 sessions. I wish it was 80."
"I’ve been a Coastal Virginia resident for 20 years and with the exception of some personal setbacks for extended periods, fitness has always been a big focus of mine. Most gyms in the area are pretty great, and I have a membership at another great local major chain. However, there’s just something different about Iron Asylum. It’s definitely your old school meets new school gym, where pretty much everyone who walks through the door is serious about their goals. You can’t say that about all of the gyms around here. Now you obviously have to pick your times because like EVERY OTHER GYM in the area, you are going to have your early morning and after work packed rush hours. But if you find the ability to be a little more flexible in your schedule, here, like everywhere else, you’ll find the right times to be able to get in and get an effective workout. Are there folks in there with phones and mini tripods taking photos and videos? Yep. I’m one of them. And it’s because fitness is a huge part of my life as it is theirs and it’s part of accountability, and sometimes just fun on social media sharing content with like-minded individuals. But so far, I haven’t, nor have I seen anyone be inconvenienced by another member who’s recording content. And everyone seems to make sure they’re respecting those around them. The place is pretty big, so, there’s plenty of room for everyone and everything… Bottom line? CLEAN gym. HUGE variety of machines and equipment. NICE owners. FRIENDLY staff. And you absolutely cannot beat the price, it’s competitive with all other gyms especially given you get 24 hour access at some locations and get multi-location access. It’s at least worth a tour, you won’t regret it!"
"Gyms sick. Nice equipment, friendly staff, clean, sauna. Can’t ask for much more. Plenty of squat racks and benches and dead lift pads. Unique equipment like rope climb and gymnastic rings. Only gym I’ve ever been where I liked the music. My one complaint is that $15 for a day pass is robbery and they don’t do guest passes. If it was $10 at-least I would have gave 4 stars. Not sure what the monthly charge is but I’m not from around here."
"Norfolk location, 2 treadmills are broken, asked the staff to turn the sauna on and waited 10min and sauna never came on, 1 stair master is also broken, staff did not seem concerned when I told them that the sauna never turned on. Clean building and lots of weight lifting equipment. Just inconvenient at times waiting for certain equipment. Update: Cleaning personnel need to pay attention more this has been sitting here for 24hrs. See picture."
