Reviews of Richmond Traditional Martial Arts
"I was at the park with my nephew. He is very little and the RTMA kids were there on spring break. Let me tell you, very well behaved children. The instructors were very good role models. Very respectful they actually welcomed my nephew and played with him. The instructor made it very clear that the “littles” were at the park and they take priority over all the park. Yes mamn, no sir. Definitely somewhere to bring your child. If your child doesn’t progress in this program. Its not them, its the way your raising your child. 100% happy to see young youth being pleasant to be around. Great job"
"We love RTMA!!! My son is neurodiverse and has physical challenges. He expressed an interest in learning Martial Arts. RTMA has experience working with his and other disabilities. The staff is kind and caring. My son LOVES every instructor there. They are patient yet instill discipline and respect. You can tell they care about the individual development of each child and celebrates their achievements as they progress on their own timeline. My son has done both evening classes and is in the after school program. I appreciate the staff and owners. You can tell this is their gift and passion. As a parent of a special needs child, I tend to be slightly over protective. However, I would definitely recommend RTMA to other parents. They truly love the kids and it shows."
"To be clear, learning martial arts in the after school program is optional. Progress is dependent on the child choosing to attend optional classes instead of doing other activities like watching movies. There is no status update, no information shared between school and parent, so it's left to your imagination why they don't appear to actually be learning anything. They can arbitrarily add extra fees. Do you have a chronically sick child and you've been trying to balance caring for them and working and it slipped your mind to call and say your child will be absent? Even though maybe you previously explained that your child has a chronic illness and may be out a lot? That's a fee, with no warning or disclosure. Just a letter informing you that they are charging you extra. They have the audacity to claim that it's for safety, when that excuse doesn't hold up under any scrutiny. If you want your kid learning martial arts, you want communication, or you dislike surprise fees, I suggest looking elsewhere."
"Great teachers! Been here for a few months and the place has really grown on me. Thought It would be boring at first but made some friends and now visit the place twice a week for class."
"Professionalism, courtesy, and a dedication to your learning process has been this dojo's TOP PRIORITY! I always feel welcome, the classes are smaller for a more intimate learning experience, and every attempt is made to meet your needs. Grandmaster makes it a point to talk to everyone that comes into the dojo. The teachers work good with the kids and adults alike. Time is taken to help you learn and your not rushed to become just another nameless student. This has been the most professional and fairly priced martial arts school i have ever attended. I give praise and eternal thanks to all who participate in making every student's martial arts experience so seamless and hands on. I defiantly recommend this dojo to ANYONE contemplating a new class. RTMA will take good care of you without draining your pocket. And the high quality art you learn here is legit in every way practical. I am a current student, and will continue to be one as long as the teachers are able to continue teaching myself. On a scale of 1 to 10 i give RTMA a 25."
