Reviews of Betsy Bell Wilderness Park
"I wanted to love this trail but honestly it kind of freaked me out. I took my two kids up to explore but the drive was a little sketchy (even in my SUV). There's parking up at the top but the road is up and back, no loop, so passing cars on the way up/back down is terrifying. The view was very pretty."
"Beautiful overlook of the area. However the road leading up to this is not for the average car. Would not recommend for any compact car or sedan. Full of ruts and washout. City should definitely look at paving this to make it more accessible."
"This place would be hard to find. If it didn't show up on Google, I wouldn't even know it existed. The signs are no joke. It was quite a rough two track up to the summit, low clearance cars be careful. Though it is a single lane road up there, there are places to pull off to allow others by, so keep an eye down the road. Though Google maps showed the "road" to be a loop, it only appeared to he a down and back from the parking area. Parking area near the overlook could hold 3 or 4 cars. I think there was a mountain trail starting point up there too. If you aren't up for the bike trail, the overlook is a bit underwhelming, especially trying to peer through the overgrowth."
"I would like to give it a better rating but the road is so rough that unless you have a 4x4 you probably shouldn't take it. It's narrow and badly rutted. Once you get to the top it's nice. The observation deck needs to be repaired or replaced. There are picnic bench seating up there as well. You do need to be careful, you are on the top of a mountain and chunks of granite are sticking out of the ground and you could easily stub a toe or twist an ankle. I bet it looks amazing when the leaves are green or even in the fall when the colors change. There's no playground, there are no restrooms, but there is a bit of a picnic area. I assume it is dog friendly, but I'm not 100% sure on that."
"Very nice views from the top, and you can even see all the way to the nearby interstate, but the road up here is definitely a fixer upper. There are a ton of different holes and cracks in the ground. The observation platforms might also need some patching up too."
