Reviews of Banfield Pet Hospital
"Happy customer. I did get charged for a nail trim that didn't happen, understanding though!! Since it was a full day of checkups, shots, and blood work. Called about the nail change and was told, just call and schedule, and I would be taken care of. Thank you Winston & Debr"
"Unfortunately, what used to be a very good location has gone downhill even admitted by their own doctors. I wish them well but appreciate the honesty when being told the place is a dumpster fire. Those were not my words"
"Too busy and not enough employees. Couldn't get in to see them when my dog couldn't stop sneezing and I've been taking her there for 4 years. Always a wait with appointment. This goes for all of them in the Tidewater area. That was the last straw for me. I switched away from Banfield completely."
"Each time we take our puppy here she comes home with something. After her first visit, at 12 weeks old, we were on the way home from Banfield when we discovered she was covered in ticks! A couple days after her 16 week visit she got kennel cough! Our puppy still hasn’t interacted or gone outside the house / yard to have picked any of this up from other sources."
"Never have I encountered someplace where the communication is so awful. Just a few days before my cats’ first appointment I received a confirmation phone call regarding their basic check-up, plus confirmation for some sort of sickness/injury appointment for one of the cats that I had never scheduled! Fortunately I was able to cancel the latter. Come the day of the actual appointment, my partner picked up our two cats in the afternoon and was told we needed to come back on Tuesday to pick up the 6-month supply of Revolution for cat A because it was out of stock. Later that afternoon I’m on the phone with the doctor and she tells me that my partner “forgot” said cat’s “goodie bag” & that everything we needed was, in fact, in stock, paid for, and that we just needed to come get it. This morning I went in to drop off cat B for a follow-up procedure and asked to pick up the “goodie bag” for cat A. The nurse comes out and tells me that nope, what he needs is still out of stock, but they’ll deliver it to us as soon as it does come in. Once they take cat B to the back the nurse tells me that she’ll need to be sedated for her procedure (after I was told by the doctor that sedation was dangerous for my cat’s condition), and that the whole procedure will cost about $200 more than the price I was initially quoted. From there she says that they’re moving at a good pace this morning and cat B should be sedated and undergoing her procedure within the hour. This was at 8:15 in the morning. By 3:30 I still hadn’t gotten the call for pick-up, so I decided to call them and check on cat B’s status. I was told she had only just been sedated and was about to undergo the procedure—meaning that my cat had just been sitting there for 7 hours. No reason was provided for the delay. Icing on the cake: again, we had already paid for cat A’s 6-month supply of Revolution after the first appointment, which is on the invoice and which you’d think they’d have digital records of on their own computers. Evidently not because we were charged again for it on today’s invoice. I understand that mistakes happen and miscommunication happens, but to have this extent of it across our first 2 appointments over the course of just FIVE days is ridiculous. When it comes to the health and well-being of people’s pets with appointment costs that run in the hundreds of dollars, you’d expect that the staff would be less incompetent. My partner and I plan on continuing with the care that Banfield as a whole provides, but certainly not at this location."
