"A nice place to relax and grab a snack while waiting on a plane or a friend. But just like every other USO, you have to have served to enjoy the amenities, or at least be a dependent of a servicemember."
"Open from 0900- midnight. Serving all ACTIVE DUTY,RESERVIST,RETIRED (not just veterans-sorry), their dependents, 100%disabled military,GOLD STAR FAMILIES, Medal of Honor recipients, and Foreign Military on orders. Food, drinks information and help with a problem as well as a secure comfortable place to stay while in the airport. Staffed 100% by volunteers. WE ARE THERE EVERY DAY,RAIN OR SHINE TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!!"
"Arrived at ORF at 11:30 but couldn't pick up my rental car until 12:00. Figured I'd stop by the USO and watch TV for 30 minutes. When I tried to sign in at the desk, the volunteer asked for my ID card. I said, "Is my VA card ok?" He goes, "This lounge is for active duty and retirees only." There was only one person in the lounge beside the volunteers sitting at the desk so I said, "Oh, I thought veterans were allowed also." At this point, the volunteer got huffy, "No sir, active duty and retirees only." I might understand if they were busy but there was only one guy in the lounge.."
"Great spot, plenty of space, and a very nice relaxation area where you can catch some Zs. The folks that run this place are delightful!"
