Virginia ABC

"I've been to this store twice, so I'm going to detail out both visits so people can judge for themselves. Short version, one of these visits had microaggression/racial profiling: 1st visit (11/17/23 around 7:45pm): Wonderful visit! Karen the manager was super sweet lady, helpful to all customers and myself. She also was able to find out they had 2 bottles of a hard to get bourbon, so I was very happy to purchase those! The other young lady working that night running the taste testing area was also super duper sweet, I enjoyed the tasting! 2nd visit (11/20/23 around 12:15pm): went in to grab a bottle of bourbon. Grabbed the bottle and went to the cashier. The gentleman was a late 20ish looking gentleman, shorter with facial hair. He proceeded to scan my ID, then triple check my face, then tried to bend my ID in half. Now I've been to ABC stores around the state for many years, and never once has this happened. At all the other stores, they scan the id and then maybe double check my face once (if that). This cashier also did not do this to the customer before me. When I joked and said "I'm definitely 30 sir", he said "we check everyone" in an irritated tone that implied I needed to stop complaining. I quickly finished the transaction and left. I don't know what his problem is, but I do not like being treated differently than every other customer that was being checked out. So in conclusion, this store is great depending on who you are dealing with. Some employee training on microaggressions would also be good, because no one should have to feel that way."

"This is a unique ABC store. I was told by the staff that it used to be a Hallmark store. It has an extensive selection of bourbons and whiskeys, as well as just about everything else. The layout of the store is inviting with several displays in the front half of the store. I got a bottle of Hudson Whiskey NY. Limit one bottle per customer. Good stuff and hard to find."

"First of all , love the store ! Clean , accessible , afforable! With having a problems in VA to get boose any store you go to, this place makes worth of those 'problems' State regulated liquer store still makes unique place to get your favorites! Prices are totaly fine , higher compering to west coast, but with state own and no other competition, still has all you need for your time off ! Just went there and found a solid gift for only $16. Jim Beam + 2 glasses! Personally big lover of Jameson and Jack Daniels, they always have it"
