Reviews of Middlesboro Mall
"Used to be a wonderful mall but it recent times owner has let it go. It's basically a ghost town that once was a mall people really only come for the movie theater now. Owner really needs to lower rent costs to allow for more businesses to open in the mall to gather more patrons. The place really needs renovated and needs some sort of food court added."
"While the Middlesboro Mall has lost quite a few businesses it is still kept up nicely and an enjoyable place to go. The outside, however, is starting to look like a slum. Just picking up the trash would help the curb appeal tremendously."
"Actually, I have never visited the interior portion of the mall, only the two large anchor stores, Belk's and Roses. Belk's is a really nice, traditional department store. Rose's is more scaled down with more of a box store atmosphere. Otherwise, it is my understanding many of the mall's interior stores have closed. Unfortunately, the JC Penny store has closed. If not for Belk's and Rose's, I'm not sure there would be many other tenants. The mall is centrally located in the center of Middlesboro. The building and facilities appear to be well maintained, although upgrades and remodeling might attract additional businesses. UPDATE JANUARY 2, 2024; Finally visited the interior of the mall. Very clean and quiet, perfect for walking on a cold, winter day. Sadly, very few stores nor businesses open here. A great portion of the mall is vacant. Really shame! I understood from my partner this mall was once a centerpiece of Middlesboro, with all rental and retail space occupied. Belk's department store and Rose's still serve as the main anchor tenants. The movie theater still in operation, along with a handful of smaller retail stores. It is my understanding Hobby Lobby opening soon. This is a nice retail mall. Hopefully, the future will bring more business and customers to the Middlesboro Mall."
"This mall is a dump a lot of empty spaces might as well bulldoze the place and try to start over. I worked in that mall for years and Friday and Saturday nights the mall was a daycare center for middle school and high school kids that had nothing better to do I can’t believe the property owners just don’t shut the place down for good and bulldoze the place things will never change at middlesboro mall and major retail stores will not go into that area because companies will lose a lot of money being in that mall because it’s a ghost town people would rather go shopping in Knoxville, Tn or Lexington, Ky Middlesboro mall has nothing to offer and it’s apparent that they are not doing a good job in trying to bring major retail stores in the mall"
"Horrible security guard. Walked all the way to roses not knowing it was closing that minute and refused to let me back through the gate to side where I parked and told me to walk the long way around outside it the blaring heat and walked off. A cruelity for those with a disability. Most of the stores are trashy at best with stains all over the place, lack of air conditioning making the place overbearing to stay in at long points, holes all over the roof with peeling, NO Public bathrooms (permently out of order in dollar tree, roses is always half open, and the movie theater requires paying customers only to use them) , genuinely nasty and problematic workers at belk and dollar tree, and the options are genuinely limited in all the stores in this dead nothing mall. I will never step foot in this place again. It's a wonder this place hasn't been shut down for health code violations."
