"Absolutely horrible! Wait times are ridiculous, 2 hours past appointment and still not seen by the dr. The lady Tabitha is rude and not very friendly with kids. If there was another option I surly wouldnt bring my child here. Come prepared to wait all day"
"I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with my experience at Vistar Eye Center. I scheduled a routine eye exam (which should cost $172), but the billing department billed it as a medical visit, charging me $320( directly charged from my insurance health fund account). I have called the billing department's Sheryl at least 20 times about this issue, but it still hasn't been resolved. Under my insistence, she resubmitted the claim twice, but both times the billed amounts were incorrect, and it was still claimed as a medical visit, and denied by my insurance. She never answers my insurance company's calls, and when I asked her if she would be willing to call my insurance, she refused. My insurance company's customer service mentioned that the incorrect claim must be retracted before a new one can be submitted, but she refuses to do so, passive responses make me disappointed. I don’t know when I can get my money back. A have a friend encountered the same issue. They have been negotiating with Vistar Eye Center for over a month now, and the problem still hasn't been resolved. Many of our friends have gone to Vistar Eye Center for routine eye exams, but based on my personal experience, I really cannot recommend it to my friends."
"PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THIS REVIEW OF VISTAR When visiting any medical professional, we expect quality customer care and competency in our physicians. I have seen four physicians at Vistar and believe that 3 of the 4 are quite competent and caring. These visits span 2 years and have all been in Roanoke. However, it is also important that companies provide trained staff to answer the phone, return messages and strive to provide the type of customer service care that we expect, pay for and certainly deserve. This is where Vistar fails miserably. One example of SEVERAL that I could give is this........I visited an eye doctor on July 25, 2023, at the Electric Road location. He ran about an hour late from my appointment time and I understand that sometimes these things happen. I was given a new prescription for one eye so I ordered a new Lense THREE WEEKS AGO and was told it would be ordered and back in two weeks. I called the Vistar eye center on August 7th, again on the 8th and again on the 11th leavings messages each time that could have been retrieved remotely by Vistar personnel. No calls were returned so I drove to their location on Friday, August 12 and saw a handwritten sign on the door that said they were experiencing electrical issues and the office was closed. Today, I received a phone call from the eyeglass department saying the Lense I ordered has arrived and they wanted me to make an appointment to come into the eye center to get it. I asked the question, "WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST RECORD A MESSAGE SO WHEN CUSTOMERS CALLED, IT WOULD LET THEM KNOW OF THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND YOU WOULD CONTACT THEM UPON REOPENING?" The answer was, "We should have." I explained about the exceptionally poor customer service from the accounting/billing departments to the appointment desk and often LONG extended wait times and dropped calls. The person I spoke with said, "I know, and we have formed a committee to look into improvements." My suggestion to you is this.....if you get frustrated like I do when companies like Vistar that are paid handsomely for their services but routinely fail to provide quality customer care, go elsewhere for your eye care needs. There are a number of excellent Opticians and other specialists in the area that can provide you with exceptional care - and they return calls."
"The front office staff to Dr. Watson have been tremendous! However if I could give 0 stars to the optical shop I would. I originally ordered my daughters frame/lenses here and it takes entirely too long to get anything in. If you need anything don’t bother calling because it goes to voicemail and no one ever answers or returns calls. You have to physically go to the office and wait for someone to even look at you. I was originally told that if I ordered my daughters glasses here if I needed replacement lenses I wouldn’t have to pay for them. I have ordered about 5 replacement lenses and never once swiped a card to pay for them. I show up today to order new lenses and am told i would have to pay $140 after insurance. I proceeded to ask them why I have never had to pay before. They told me that the last time I paid for the lenses and even pulled up a history of payment. Again I’m still confused because I have NEVER paid for the replacement lenses. They told me they don’t keep cards on file either and couldn’t give me an answer but somehow they were paid for $140 each time. Needless to say once I look up the history of my health benefits card and if they have somehow been using my health benefits card to pay without my permission or knowledge they will be getting an earful from me because that is FRAUDULENT!"
"Very pleased with our experience. We were referred by the first eye doctor my daughter saw to Dr.Darner as a specialist. We received our paperwork with plenty of time to fill out, read and prepare. The paperwork clearly said at the top of it, appointment will take 2-3 hours. Which is very helpful Information since I typically have my younger son with us as well. I was able to make arrangements for him to stay somewhere else. They have a super nice play areas for my daughter while we waited for her appointment time. The assistant was super friendly and great with my daughter. And I can not say enough nice things about Dr. Darner. She was super helpful and explained things very clearly. We had a 30ish minute wait while my daughters eyes were being dilated, but had tv and books to read. Wonderful experience all around. I am very thankful for their care and knowledge."
