Reviews of Charlottesville Handyman Services
"Zach was terrific! The toilet repair job and shoe moulding task were both more involved than anticipated by the estimator, but Zach patiently made extra trips for supplies and was cheerful and did a beautiful job!"
"I was extremely happy with the services provided by Charlottesville Handyman. They were prompt responding, their estimate was accurate and they were responsive throughout the process. Zach was professional and efficient and did a great job replacing my exterior vents. I will definitely use them in the future."
"Called Charlottesville Handyman Services and asked if they were able to repair bathtubs. I was told yes and they scheduled me an appointment for the following week on Monday at 11:00am. When the technician had not arrived by 11:15 I called to verify that they were still coming. I was told that the technician was in route and that he had a 30 minute window from the scheduled appointment time to arrive. I was never given that information when scheduling but I thanked the receptionist and continued to wait. I called again at 12:37 as he had still not arrived. The person who answered this time stated that the technician had sent a text saying that they didn't do bathtub repairs and he had recommended another company. First of all I asked them as soon as they picked up the phone if they repaired bathtubs or I would have never had an appointment for a quote. Secondly, they didn't even have the common courtesy to call and tell me any of this so that I didn't spend almost 2 hours waiting. I had to continue to call them. They wasted my time when I have important things to attend to. Terrible customer service. I will never call them again. Would give them zero stars if I could. ***Edited because a member of their management team called and apologized and said that they would make sure that this type of miscommunication does not happen again. I feel as though that warrants an extra star for the effort he put into this."
"This has not been a positive journey using Charlottesville Handyman. I don’t feel like the estimator truly listened to what I wanted. However, I asked for a basic door and window to replace our patio door. There were lots of back orders. They said they were doing all they could. I believed them. They said they had to special order the window because of its size. It didn’t have to be that size that was some choice they made. The door they ordered was a glass door. It should have been solid. Weirdly, when the subcontractor came out he was able to run right into Lowe’s and get the door I wanted , as it was a standard size. The window was not supposed to have panes so that it would match the rest of the house, but it did. The estimate for the ends of the house was to replace all the Masonite with cement siding however, it came in with one board on each end as being replaced and that was on me. I was not diligent in reading the estimate that said that was all they were going to replace. They did end up getting the door I wanted. My house had been leaking from the board rot at the ends, but they wouldn’t come to fix that as they wanted to do all of it at one time. I ended up using flex tape on that. The whole process has taken 4 months and they didn’t get to fixing the garage entrance door and installing a lock there. Because of the one board replacement it looks like the patch job that it is at the ends of the house. They had initially stated their crew could do it all in one day which was why they didn’t want to break it up. After so many months and reschedules, they could see my frustration so they did send a great subcontractor. It was him and his helper. He definitely knew how to listen and talk with his customers, but his hands were tied. His work ethic and quality was really good based on what Charlottesville Handyman provided him. I imagine he is a truly stellar service provider that knows what he’s doing and how to work with people. The subcontractor is why they are getting the stars they are. Also, I did get an email with a couple of hours stating my job was going to take several more hours than they had estimated and to expect the bill to reflect that. As of right now the subcontractor and his helper worked the exact hours contracted. I documented. The glass door was going to cost $1100, according to the owner when I reported the error, and they told me a solid door would cost substantially more, but was $500 less. My father was a contractor and many of these things did not add up. The contractor’s vehicle could not carry the debris away, as it had no room, so my yard still has all of that stacked by the driveway. He did apologize profusely. Upon reflection, maybe if the estimator had been focused on listening and taking notes instead of talking about all of his experience and how knowledgeable he was, maybe there wouldn’t have been an issue. That will teach me to only look at reviews. Next time, I will definitely ask to speak to people a provider has worked for and for pictures of similar projects."
"Cesar and his colleague did an excellent job helping us complete a project with our cabinets and doors in the kitchen. They perfectly executed the work in a very timely manner. We are very pleased with the results and plan to use Charlottesville Handyman Services again!"
