"Fees are low but the service is not good. Never got my reports on time. My bookkeeping was just as inaccurate as when I was doing it myself. They had to go back and redo it twice. The first rep I got was not professional and the 2nd I could barely understand. The owner isn’t pleasant either especially when it comes to resolving issues. The billing lady was very nice though."
"Random price changes, invoices with no details, not applying payments. A whole list of things while treating me as a burden. The upside is I got my taxes done, but not the actual problem I came to them for."
"Very disappointed with this company. I have had countless mistakes made by them over the past several years and they never once even took them seriously. They blew off every mistake they made. The point of hiring a CPA was to make sure my paperwork was prepared and filed correctly and to decrease my stress and it was a nightmare for me. I was even given incorrect paperwork at the very end and it's been like pulling teeth to get it corrected for my records and they still just don't want to do their job. I don't recommend, they don't take your business seriously."
"This CPA refused to hand over documents relating to the tax filing they submitted on our behalf because they had done so incorrectly and were trying to avoid us finding out. We sent our taxes to another CPA for a second opinion and realized that Jay Steer has mismanaged our books for the whole year. We physically showed up to the office and refused to leave until they gave us the necessary documents. Low quality service and very poor internal organization. We regret spending the $600 to file our taxes with them (not to mention the quarterly fee) as now we have to spend more to amend our returns for 2019."
"I do not recommend that anyone get their taxes done here. They are double the price of what other businesses are charging. The called me to double check my appointment, which I thought was considerate, and I told him exactly what was going to be involved with my taxes. I then asked him how much it would cost, and he quoted me a very reasonable price. When I came in for the appointment, he told me that it was going to be triple the price that he had said. We went through all of the information that he needed from me. I had a baby last year so he needed his SSN, DOB, full name and his father's name, and my bank account information for the direct deposit. He also needed some receipts that I did not have with me. He gave me his cellphone number to send a picture of the receipts to. I sent him the receipts, and when I did not hear anything back, I called him the next day to make sure that he got them. He did not answer his phone. I tried for three days to call him with no answer or call back. He then calls me on a Saturday to tell me that he has lost all of my son's information and needs me to give it to him again. That didn't make me feel too confident. I give him all of the information again, and they call me the following Tuesday to let me know that my taxes were completed. I was not able to pick them up until Friday, due to my work schedule. I paid and signed for everything, and they told me that they would E-file them for me. I found out about the "Where's my Refund" feature that the IRS offers, and on Wednesday, I signed in to see where they were at with my refund. The website tells me that I need to check the verification E-mail that was sent to me. The CPA did not ask for my E-mail address, so I called them the next day to see if they needed my E-mail. The receptionist said that she needed to check on something and would call me back. She calls me back and says that my taxes got returned for an issue that Friday. I asked her why I had not received a call, and she said that they get many come through a day. I told her about all of my problems, and she said that she would get Mr. Steer to call me. They needed some more information from me, which I sent, and asked for a reply that they received, which I never got. So now, according to the IRS website. my refund check is being mailed to me. I am scared to know where all of my bank and son's information is that I gave him, and I am going to assume that Mr. Steer is not calling me since it has been almost two weeks since I voiced my concerns."
