"First off I can’t believe I’m writing this…but I have known Mark for over 10 years..he has done my taxes in past but start doing myself then this year we reconnected so he could do taxes. I paid him fee for service, I get paperwork from him and taxes filed. I then see refund was deposited to bank..I check my account but nothing there. I contact Mark to make sure he has correct banking info and he says let me check when I get home and he would call me back. No call back that day. So I call next day, no answer. Next day after that and still no answer. So I decided to call IRS and State people to see if they had correct account number.. they tell me I see that account associated with your name but that’s not account money went to, you have to speak to person who prepared taxes because I guess he set up to go in another account. So I call Mark again and again for next week…it has now been almost 2 weeks and he has not returned calls or text. So basically my refund was stolen. Then referred friend to him..he took her service fee and never filed her taxes and won’t return her text to ask questions!!!! I’m so upset because we had a whole convo about honest people in world and seem like he was really big on that.. Then boom! Im so disappointed and is disbelief because that’s not Mark at all..he usually always comes through for me…not sure what’s going on but really didn’t want to have to write this review..tried to give him time to reach out but I’m sure it will never happen :( Update: 5/30/23 So I finally received State and federal…by check from whatever account he used and not directly deposited like I thought it would be..so no money was stolen. Originally money sent by state and IRS 5/6/2023 but just receiving. I’m still un easy about the whole communication issues and not answering calls or tex…so wanted to update that issue resolved"

"Mark was recommended by a very dear friend of mines, she spoke of him with such high regard. I wish I could say the same. I have been trying to get in contact with him to get some clarification on my tax filing. The service was paid already so I’m not understanding what the hold up is in the filing process. I have been calling Mark for almost 4 weeks to get some answers and haven’t heard anything. I’m not understanding exactly what’s the problem. I really just have a few questions that need to be answered I don’t think I’m asking for much. I did get a email from Mark saying it was filed, but when I went on the IRS website it said otherwise. This is a question for just Mark. Hopefully this will get his attention."

"Current (2022 review) I have been a client of Mark & Costen Tax Solutions for six years. I had some questions about our tax status after the taxes were electronically filed in regards to why I couldn’t see the status on IRS.gov, transaction number, etc. I have attempted to contact him several times & no response from him or refund. I wasn’t expecting this at all & I have referred him to several people over the years (as you can see my review 5 years ago was 5 stars.) I really hope things even out & his business can run closer like it did five years ago. I will not be returning as a client to see if this can occur. Five years ago (5 stars): I have been working with Mark and his company for two years and I'm very pleased. We have a special needs child and he was able to answer all our tax questions. Also, if I had questions during the year he was available to answer them. Vitor did our taxes this year and I was very pleased with him as well."

"Costen Tax Solutions was recommended to me by one of their former customers. Mark ultimately prepared my taxes in early May 2021 and charged me for the service. Here we are close to JULY and the IRS has absolutely no record of my taxes being sent to them, nor do the two states with which I also had to file returns. I have tried to contact Mark, both at his cell number and at the main business number on multiple occasions just so I can verify the date that the return was sent and perhaps see some sort of proof that it was sent off in the first place. The main number is always busy, regardless of what time of the day you call. The cell number is even stranger. Usually it goes to voice mail, which I have left several in the last couple of weeks, but recently the voicemail box is reporting FULL, meaning that he is either being bombarded with calls or is not checking his messages. My next step will be to drive by the actual business address just to see if it is even legit or if they are still in business. All seems very sketchy. I would not recommend Costen Tax Solutions."
