"Utterly dishonest, unscrupulous business. Short version: they took my family's fuel back, AFTER IT WAS PAID FOR, without anything approaching adequate notice. There was nothing even approaching an injury to Blossman here. I wasn't stealing anything from them, wasn't misusing their service, wasn't uncommunicative, and wasn't keeping their tank from them. If anything, I was proactive in outreach to them. Long version: I inherited my house and paid for a tank refill contracted by the previous owner. Unsure of whether I would keep the house or the gas heater, I requested Blossman and I re-engage when the weather got colder. Whoever was working in the store agreed. As I recall, at that point, the tank was about 10% full. At least that's what I remember being told. That was spring 2023. Fast forward to late September or early October, I was traveling in Europe and the Blossman left a message asking if they could pick up the tank because it hadn't been refilled. I didn't use a heater during a Virginia summer. Weird, right? Well, otherwise, it's a reasonable request since we didn't speak to each other in months. I think the voicemail was from the same person I met in the the store when I paid the bill, so they knew exactly why I hadn't refilled. Anyway, after they called, it probably took me a bit more than 24 hours before I noticed I had a U.S. voicemail. It was definitely before the end of the next business day that I called back, intending to ask they leave things alone a little longer. That was my intent because I was expecting colder temperatures in the next few weeks and still had fuel to burn...and I was probably going to buy a refill anyway. That's not how the call went though. They informed me they had already picked my tank up and, no, I could not have a refund for the unused fuel. I argued the point a bit – not long, mind you, since this was an international phone call and those are still expensive – and got some nonsensical rebuttal that I wasn't following their contract because I had not refilled. Kind of a weird argument, since they seemingly accepted my payment, and, again, we don't use heaters much in the summer here. (I also never signed a contract, nor was I informed about it when I visited them.) Since I had someone staying in the house, I ended the call by asking them to put things back the way they were until I had time to deal with it. The store attendant told me management would be consulted and someone would get back to me. Nobody ever did. Maybe two follow up calls I made were not answered. I also noticed when I returned stateside, several days to a week later, that they didn't even bother plugging up the hookup line or anything like that. Just left it open through a rain storm and for insects to make a home in. Very professional. Yes, I might be annoyed, but I objectively can't see how any of this makes sense from Blossman's point of view. I could understand if some weeks had passed, or if I had ignored previous calls, or anything of the sort. Their voice message was their first communication to me in months that I know of, and I responded by the end of the next business day. Admittedly both parties had been a bit radio silent about this since our chat in the spring, but I find it really hard to believe that the status quo transmogrified into an urgent need to recall the tank and the fuel inside it in a mere 24 hours. I'm not super thrilled about keeping a propane heater in the long term, and I was upfront about that, but they didn't gain anything from this besides alienating a potentially good repeat customer. I still have a propane hookup for my cooking stove. Now I wouldn't want to buy propane for my deep fryer from Blossman. But congratulations to Blossman for keeping maybe $20 worth of ill-gotten fuel and one more star they deserve in their review? They might get away with it, but any reader of this be warned: someone willing to rip me off for a few bucks might be willing to rip you off for a few hundred. At least if they think they can pull it off."
"The team at Blossman Gas of Warrenton installed a beautiful gas log fireplace in our living room just in time for our Christmas Eve party! We were a little worried but everything came together very quickly in the end. I have been with them for 5 years - they have installed gas log systems in both of our fireplaces and also connected our range to gas. We have never had a problem with running out nor have we had any issues whatsoever with any of our equipment. They always top off our tanks well beforehand. Everyone is very friendly in the office. I would recommend them to anyone who needs any propane-related service!"
"I've been with Blossman for over 20 years and have always been satisfied with everything. They put a monitor on my tank which sends the gas level to them, I like it! I can look at the website and see my level instantly, and it gives me peace of mind knowing they are monitoring my levels."
"Absolutely horrible business. Scheduled a tech to come out to my home, I take off work and wait, they never show and when I called they said they would return my call when they figured out where the tech was… no call back. Stay away from them."
"Ran out of propane for our generator-not sure why we usually have auto delivery so should have been full. Called company on Friday but they are closed until Monday with no emergency delivery. Merry Christmas!"
