"Penny’s is a hidden gem that we are so glad we found out about! This place is our new favorite restaurant in Richmond!! The food is hands down amazing. We started dinner with the marinated olives and whipped ricotta - both delicious! For our entrees we had the braised short ribs, best in Richmond, and the duck confit special, best duck we’ve ever had. For dessert we took our waitress’s suggestion and tried the spicy mango gelato and it did not disappoint! It was like a flavor explosion in your mouth! We are so excited to come back and try more food. If I could give this place 100 stars I would, it was that good!"

On every occasion that I’ve had the pleasure of spending time at Penny’s, their team has been knowledgeable, courteous, and welcoming. They taught me new things about wine. Penny’s connects people, and I leave with new extended family after every visit. Lance and Kristen helped me celebrate birthdays, and received friends and family that I sent to visit as their own. Try the roasted beet salad, the trout, the roasted oysters… all of the food is unparalleled! Kudos to Chef Manny. The neo-soul music keeps the atmosphere cozy & casual. Penny’s is truly a new cultural hub that you can’t miss if you’re ever in Richmond’s Jackson Ward."

"I visited Penny’s wine shop for the first time on 11/1 with my friends and we absolutely loved the intimate atmosphere, we tried three different wines and my favorite was a red blend called Kiki&Juan, our waitress was so kind and did great with explaining which wines we should try and going through the menu. One of my friends had the braised short ribs with sweet potato grits and loved her food, my other friend had a mushroom entreé that she also enjoyed, I had the duck confit along with some gelato. It was my first time trying duck so I struggled with the texture and decided to not force myself to eat more but, I did not send it back and decided to pay for it however the customer service was so great that even when I insisted it was fine my waitress and the manager still comped my meal. Also the three layer gelato was great 10/10."
