"I had multiple bad experiences with this school. When I first started classes, the instructor told me that once I attained a belt rank, it was honored for life... After a bad experience involving a financial situation, I quit in disgust. After a long period of time, I decided to try again and the instructor told me that my previous belt rank would not be honored and that I had to start over as a white belt. I reached green belt and was ready to test for the next belt when a personal situation at home forced me to postpone training for only four months.... My son had a severe illness and at about the same time, my Dad fell and broke seven ribs and two vertebrae. During the four months that I was away from class, I saw my instructor at a local chain store, where I told the instructor about my situation and told him that I planned to return to class. When I was able to return to class, ONLY FOUR MONTHS later, the instructor told me that I had to RETEST for my green belt, although I had explained my situation to him earlier. To retest for green belt would have cost me a testing fee that I really couldn't afford. On this very same first night back, the instructor would not even allow me to help with the children's class and, while I was helping one of the children, the instructor asked me to sit out. Although I had just paid $99 that first night back for the next month's training, I was so embarrassed and I felt that the instructor treated me in such a condescending and disparaging manner that I walked out... And I've never been back. Finally, the instructor reprimanded me because I had called his house ONLY 2-3 times to ask about something. HE TOLD ME TO NOT CALL HIM AT HIS RESIDENCE ANY MORE. It wasn't like I habitually or frequently called him. In my opinion and upon reflection, I feel like the entire time I trained as a student, the instructor frequently treated and talked to me more like I was a child, not an adult. Even my spouse, who had attended one or more of my classes, told me that she was surprised that I stood there and let the instructor talk to me the way he did.... I'm surprised myself that I allowed the instructor to talk to me in a manner that I perceived to be verbal abuse. The only reason I can surmise my tolerance of this is that I was trying to maintain respect.... It certainly was NOT because of fear!! This aforementioned review is based entirely on my perception and opinion of my personal experience, and it is not a reflection in any way as to how the relationship was between the instructor and any other student."
"Best place to take your children! L.C Collins instills discipline, resect and hard work all while caring for the kids like they are his own. He is truly a blessing to Kingsport."
