Reviews of Fort Slocum Park
"Nice park to walk in and explore. There is a woodsy area with trails that cross cross, and a picnic area with a few tables. Good for power walking, dog walking and exploring. These are the earthen ramparts left behind from the US 1861 Insurrection. Kansas Avenue was carved through during the 1930s, there is another small, cool part west of the main part on the other side of Kansas, check that part out too, cool trees. You can see this is the high ground. The military always takes the high ground parts."
"A beautiful little green space that is part of our nations history. I absolutely loved my afternoon visit today. I will be going again soon when I have a chance to explore a little bit."
"My daughter lives across the street from the park. It is well kept and quiet. Sometimes you will see deer coming out of the woods. The pavilion is clean and a good place for a family picnic. There is plenty of space for fun and games. And it is a good place to play when it snowing."
"This is a smallish park for DC but has a pavilion to sit under (although DC has more scenic parks to have an event) and a small forest with some short, locally made trails (ie unofficial). Not enough for a true hike but good for dog walking. I've seen deer, rabbits, chipmunks, and the usual city wildlife."
"Great park, but every evening I see trash like cans of plastic and bags on the edge of territory"
