"Another great viewpoint to see the fall colors in the mountains and valleys, clear of highway traffic and safety railing at edge for viewer safety."
"Beautiful, better option for pets, would love to have a restroom of some sort."
"Amazing spot! I always stop here when passing by. It makes you wonder how beautiful and amazing this country is, and also reminds us with those VDOT workers that sacrifices their lives to make us safe every day! Thank you VDOT for the scenic spot and for your services. Restrooms would be a brilliantly addition to this spot."
"This part of interstate 64 is very mountainous, so this particular rest stop is very scenic! Just be aware there are no bathrooms or vending machines. There's also a neat little VDOT memorial!"
"The VDOT Workers Memorial is located along Interstate 64 East near mile marker 103 and is about 3.5 miles (5 minutes or so) east of the Scenic Overview in Afton. This memorial is not accessible when traveling westbound along Interstate 64. This scenic overview is always open. My visit here was in the afternoon of July 28, 2019. I passed by the VDOT Workers Memorial without stopping back in 2016, but that was only due to significant fog at the time. The weather was much better this go around, so this time a stop was in order. There are no facilities at this memorial and overlook. There are some trash cans though. You can easily see the interstate and the scenic views here. As a passenger, you could see the US and VA flags as you drive by if you aren't able to stop in. Before stopping here, I didn't know much about what the memorial was. Now I know this is a memorial of those VDOT workers who passed in the line of duty while making our roads safer and better. There are quite a few names on that list. This should serve as a reminder to drive safely going through work zones, wherever you may be driving. This is another good place to stop, stretch your legs, and take in the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is a relaxing component to visiting places like this and taking in the views. You get to temporarily forget about everything else and just take in the moment. Overall, this is an awesome place to stop, relax, reflect, and just take in the moment. With breathtaking views and to honor those who were killed while working to make our roads in VA better, this is a great combination. If your travels take you past this area headed east, this place should warrant a stop along your way. I will definitely stop in again if my travels take me this way again in the future."
