About the Chancellorsville Battlefield
Chancellorsville Battlefield, located at 9001 Plank Road in Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia, is a historic tourist attraction that is part of America's battleground, including Fredericksburg, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania. This site vividly reflects the tragic cost of the Civil War, with a town bombarded and looted, farms destroyed, and thousands of refugees forced into the countryside. Over 85,000 men were wounded and 15,000 killed, many in unknown graves.
Teachers planning field trips can find resources and lesson plans at Chancellorsville Battlefield. Visitors can download trail maps to explore the four battlefields at their own pace. Kids can participate in the Junior Ranger program with four books for four times the fun. Park films and videos are available for viewing before or during a visit.
Ellwood Manor, a significant site at Chancellorsville Battlefield, was a slave plantation, field hospital, US headquarters, and the burial location of Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson's arm. Jackson himself died in a nearby house after the Battle of Chancellorsville. Visitors can also learn about Chatham Manor, a slave plantation and Civil War headquarters that has overlooked Fredericksburg since 1771. Explore the history and significance of this important battleground and learn about the events that took place here during the Civil War.

Reviews of Chancellorsville Battlefield
"It's always nice to visit Battlefields to learn the history and imagine what it was like to be there. There's a short walk around the Visitor Center, and there's also a driving tour. There weren't too many things to see though...learning the history was more important."
"This is so well cared for. It is as important as any church, political hall, or any place people have met to change the course of history."
"Very nice history at Chancellorville National Battlefield Park. The Visitor center displays are history loaded with relics, displays and videos. You can watch a 22 minute film. The film costs 2.00 for adults, 1.00 for seniors and under 10 free. The driving tour is a little difficult as some direction signs are missing. I had to use GPS TO find stop number 4. It has monuments of where Stonewall Jackson was shot."
"Wonderful place to walk through history with markers that explain what happened throughout this battlefield. We were greeted by the park staff that were a delight to talk to. The only thing is, the markers need to be redone and some trails do not have trail maps to guide you. Other than that, it's very informative. A must see."
"One of the greatest tactical battles in history is here waiting for you to visit. It's beautifully preserved, has a first class and newly renovated museum, complemented by an array of knowledgeable staff that are always looking to share their wisdom. I've been twice in the last year, and learned something new each time."
