"I took small kids and we were there for hours! It’s free if you don’t take a tour and I hadn’t realized there were several buildings that were part of the complex. Pull the church bell! Pretend to draw water from the well! There is 1 building that is behind the parking lot and hard to see, the Hailslip House so make sure not to miss that. There is also a nature trail by it that my kids loved. It feels wild and mysterious, bring bug spray and water! We rented the history backpack and had lot of fun with the contents. There are activities with instructions for $20. There are so many trees to play in, and there is a big open field, it’s fantastic."
"Great afternoon at the park. With minor tweaking this day could become a major event for Bluegrass and Americana music fans in PWC and surrounding areas."
"Excellent and extremely well maintained county Historic Centre. Multiple buildings are open. There is about half mile walking trail that lead you to the run. Steep in places and with steps. The trail is unpaved. One needs to watch out for tree roots..The site has both Civil War Trails marker and is stop 5 on the Bristoe Campaign Trail. Highly recommended."
"Nice place to visit. I visited last summer on their annual "Brentsville Day." There was some bluegrass music, local artists selling their artwork, and even a short hayride, which me and my grandma enjoyed. I've gone here another time and tried to go on the trail they had, but it was not very well kept and narrow. I wasn't comfortable walking it during the summer."
"Once all the buildings are open this tour will be a five star attraction in my opinion. Resent storm damage has resulted in the closing to the public of most of the building on this site. The school was open and we were able to tour it and I did manage to capture an interior image of the church through a window. If you are in the area make this a stop especially if you have children that need some space to burn of energy."
