Dalton (our instructor and the owner) was such an amazing and awesome teacher! He was very patient and explained the process and the tools of the trade to us. "The cutting board class was such an awesome experience and perfect for all levels including beginners. We got to design our board from a selection of different types and widths of wood making it entirely custom and to your liking. I had no idea what the process entailed going in and Dalton was helpful every step of the way. I could not believe how beautiful the board turned out! "IN SUMMARY: AN INCREDIBLE SPOT FOR NEWBIES LIKE ME! SO WELCOMING AND HELPFUL THAT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU BELONG! I stumbled across Workbench when driving down the Boulevard. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon, met Dalton who gave me a brief tour of the shop. All of the projects I could now do quickly came to mind. I don't have a basement or the tools (or frankly the know-how) to do it on my own so this space seemed like the perfect spot to learn by doing and get started. I showed up a few days later for orientation and Dalton spent 2 hours with me not just giving me orientation but also training on how to use every machine in the space. For a woodworking rookie, he never once made me feel stupid for my basic questions. It was a training and orientation all in one. After orientation, I spent 4 more hours in the shop putting my orientation to work with a few projects I had in mind. I bought some wood from the store at the front and in just a few short hours I "built" some drink coasters from a rough wood block and used the laser etcher to print my logo on the coasters. I also made a house sign to put out at the road. Dalton and Jeremy (one of the other members) were there to help with advice and support as I now had to apply my orientation to a real project. The place was SO WELCOMING and I am SO GRATEFUL that I came home on day one with something to show my family and friends of my accomplishments."
