Reviews of Sheltering Arms Institute: Physical Rehabilitation Hospital
"This company takes in the worst patients. They’ve become very desperate and they are breaking their employees backs plus I’ve never seen a rehab with so many isolations, so you are constantly put at risk. There are a lot of “totals” that requires two or three persons to lift. Yes they have devises to assist you but you can and will still hurt your backs. They don’t care about their employees. Always short staff because people keep quitting from left to right especially on a unit call “DDAC”. The manager there does not assist her employees but sits In her office all day. You would think the higher ups would step in… be more concerned about what she is doing why all her employees keep quitting. The employees just sits and gossip about each other and the call bells rings for over 20 mins. No team work. Neuro is the next worst unit. No one wants to work there. When people call out they Float you to cover in another unit and they give you the worse patients. There are also a lot of cancellations, they will call you mins/an hr before getting into work to tell you that you are being cancelled. I will say it is a clean facility thanks to the housekeeping. Your PTO is also known as the FLex time which they automatically use when they cancel you or you call out you can use it but the worst part is by the time you want to take a vacation there are no hours left. Former Employee"
"Google will not let me update my last review but I wanted to make sure I did so. EVERY DEPARTMENT was 100% 5 star with the EXCEPTION of SOME nurses. My dad entered sheltering arms not being able to stand by himself and now he can walk independently!! PT OT Speech Dietary everyone has been amazing! As to nursing, some of them are amazing but there were times where call bells were unanswered for 20 minutes plus or inappropriate things were said by nursing staff. Overall his experience seemd almost just shy of a miracle. People are people and so are nurses. Anyway I would definitely recommend sheltering arms but would also say have someone stay VERY aware of nursing/toileting, response times, etc"
"EDIT: The staff responded quickly to speak to us about the incident below. Again I would like to say EVERYONE else has been wonderful and the most important part my family member is making great physical progress. Will update this review throught his journey. Hopefully one bad apple (so far) won't spoil everything. Everyone has been great until yesterday. My family member is there and has been very well cared for until yesterday. He had a nurse that said completely inappropriate things to him. After telling her that my father is very independent and after having a stroke is very slightly confused sometimes he might try to do things independently. She said and I quote "I am very aware of our facilities restraint policy and I can scare him if I need to". I explained that is the WORST thing she could do. He has other interventions that are working well. Later when he rated his pain she questioned him multiple times stating "well you just ate so are you sure it's that bad" and then after a full day of only coming in for meds (aka the bare minimum) she tried to blame my father for his neck pain at which point I shut her down and escalated the issues. This once again solidifies my belief that you should always have an advocate with you while in any hospital or facility."
"This facility is amazing! Everyone was so helpful, genuine, caring, supportive... the list could go on and on. They helped not only my mother during her stay there but myself as well. I am very thankful to have chosen this facility! They truly care and ensure that their patients leave with the best possible outcomes. Kudos to ALL of you working here."
"Omg, I went in there not able to walk, and 3 weeks later, I was walking on the walker and it gave me so much hope! I was in a dark place when I went there, but your Drew, and all the staff, nurses, techs, and Doctors were so wonderful, not only did they help me everyday, they gave me hope, that someday, I would be able to walk again without help. I would recommend Sheltering Arms Institute to anyway that wants to be independent. I stayed there from 6/11/2022 to 7/1/2022. Everyone that I came across in every Dept. and category was amazing! Best three weeks I spent in hospitals for my Spine Surgery and Rehab. Thank you!!! You are all very special!!!!"
