"My husband and I recently worked with Brittany Wrigly to have a trust made. Can’t say enough positive things about the whole experience. It was easy to understand and affordable. You get everything you need and it is all explained well. I have so much relief knowing this process is done and done correctly."
"My husband and I had a great experience with estate planning with Jim Garrett. He was responsive, patient and immensely helpful with a process that was completely new to us. Highly recommend!"
"My parents used James Garrett several years ago to “organize” their modest estate of titled assets. Their desire was to avoid probate, limit estate taxes, reduce liability, and pass all assets equally to my sister and I with the exception of one investment account to benefit the education of underprivileged Filipino students. My father passed away several months ago leaving my 94 year old mother who is college educated and just recently stopped preparing taxes for others as an Enrolled Agent. She continues to be mentally sharp. My sister is a highly educated and very intelligent medical doctor. HOWEVER, neither of them could recognize the schemes of James Garrett which are structured to maintain an unnecessary dependence on him. Soon after Dad passed James Garrett sent a letter to Mom offering a complimentary zoom meeting. I “attended “ the meeting but excused myself before the end. A couple of months later Mom asked me to drive her to see James Garrett. I asked her before we left if he was charging much. My stomach turned when she said she had already sent him $2500, but thought she needed to pay his suggestion of a minimum $7000 package!!! She kept saying “It’s such a mess”. I was sickened. Mom had 2 parcels of land in an LLC, 2 bank accounts, and 3 mutual fund accounts. He was advising her to put all of her liquid accounts into a trust and then wanted my sister and I to sign a document that would REVOKE an IRREVOCABLE trust that my father wanted to pass a portion of the land LLC to us and he would put that in Mom’s trust also. After heated discussion he very reluctantly told us the trust wasn’t necessary to accomplish Moms goals and could easily, very easily be accomplished with transfer on death forms from the institutions. I then debated with him why he was asking my sister and I to sign over our portion of land held in the LLC and put in Moms trust and he said “Mom has to prove she owns it”. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It wasn’t clear until later that day why he was pushing so hard to put titled documents into a trust. It’s good for continued confusion and dependence on his services. It reminds me of a merry go around at the circus and every time you go around James Garrett is standing there with his hand out. Regarding Dad’s desire to help Filipino people with their education, my sister was trustee and she was so confused by the documents (your schemes work Mr Garrett) that she paid him to “help”. Essentially, in my opinion, taking money directly from a young Filipino student entering Randolph Macon this year that my father had been supporting for years. Regrettably I didn’t get involved sooner but I had no idea that someone such as James Garrett would conduct business in such fashion. In my opinion he excels at solving the problems of today and plots to create problems for the future. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night but he appeared to be well rested."
"Got an awesome estate plan from CBF&A. I met Jeremy at a seminar outside of this firm. It was a no brainer to ask for him and work with his firm. He was nothing short of amazing! I felt well cared for with my concerns heard and understood. When I brought up things that were important to me, and things even out of the ordinary for how I want to to my plan, he was able to draft it perfectly. Through the current covid pandemic he was able to work and draft everything virtually and safely remotely. I think this is a testament for their professionalism and follow through for their clients. Props! I had to go in to sign all the documents to their office and they handled that per social distancing safety guidelines. They were even able to work out a financing plan to help me pay for the services as well, that was a well welcome surprise. I've heard you can get an estate plan for cheap from other online services. But think about how important it is... this is your life plan..These guys know that, and are well worth trusting. 11/10"
"I attended one of the firm's informative sessions to learn more about estate planning. Jim Garrett conducted the session in an informative and easy to understand manner. I am now a client of the firm and highly recommend Carrell Blanton Ferris & Associates and Jim Garrett to anyone that needs to create an estate/trust plan."
