Reviews of Whole Foods Market
"I was very happy with my trip to this particular location. I've been on the hunt for purple sweet potatoes and purple rice for awhile now and have been unable to find either at my regular grocery stores. I definitely appreciate shopping here fur the harder to find produce and plant based foods. Prices are pretty darn high though..."
"We shop here for their good fruits. Aisles are narrow so it always feels crowded. Of course, it's also expensive. The extensive pre-made food buffet is great for a quick meal on the go."
"When we moved to Raleigh in 2004 (yes, you can laugh, from the Bay Area) this was an above-average store to buy healthy food with some items even having a history/audit trail (where the food comes from, who has handled it and how, practices and methods used, etc.). Prices were high, yes, but the quality of both food and service were noticeably good. We’re not wealthy but are in a good enough place that we can pay a little extra for better quality. Unfortunately, since Amazon gobbled them up, things have noticeably gone down hill. Amazon’s insane focus on ultra lean operations, including the lowest possible labor cost and, all that and more, at very thin margins, has allowed mediocrity to creep in. Staff: still pretty friendly but a number of weird mistakes made we personally experienced and, at least perceptually, less genuine customer care. Selection: significantly gone down; granted, the pandemic has hugely impacted everyone and the supply chains are still shadows of what they were before. Food Quality: seems they’ll offer it if they can buy it, but overall freshness and quality have definitely suffered. Also, for some reason, we can’’t figure this out at all, we run into many pricing mistakes in our disfavor. Almost every time we shop, there is something on the receipt where we were overcharged, and sometimes by more than 100%. Thus, now each visit, before we leave the store, we go through the receipt line by line to make sure we didn’t pay $5 or more too much. In one instance the delta was around $20, which is real money. You might ask, why do we still buy there? For us, at least, there aren’t any credible alternatives. You say, “farmer’s markets have fresh produce.” True, but we don’t know any that sell organic produce. I’d love supporting local farmers, but many forcibly run at razor thin margins and seem to either not want to or cannot afford to switch to farming practices that don’t include pesticides and other scary chemicals. What our local farmer’s market does offer is two livestock farmers that offer humanely raised and slaughtered meat. More expensive, yes, but if you know how factory farming works and have spent even just moments at a slaughter house then you hopefully would agree you cannot morally justify buying any meat that’s not humanely raised and slaughtered. So there you have it. Next up, family vacation pics… (kidding, of course)"
"First time here! Really small aisles - very hard to push your cart around + the staff has carts for restocking everywhere, blocking you. They were out of stock on rosemary and thyme. Also didn’t have steak kababs like other locations. Wont be coming back to this location."
"Highest grocery prices in the area. Average selection. Hot bar food is also average at best. My favorite thing here are the freshly made sandwiches. They start at around $10. I come here when I’m late for work and hungry. If I wanted expensive grocery items I’d pick the fresh market over whole foods aka “whole paycheck”"
