Tuckaway-Innsbrook Child Development Center

"We took our child to Tuckaway at Village Run Dr from 4 months old until about 22 months old. We spent the last 12 months there actively looking for other places to take our girl, but wait lists are so long it took a while. This place is a bit of a hot mess. I give 2 stars because at the end of the day, I did feel that my child was safe there and I knew there were a couple specific teachers who adored her and would look out for her well-being. That said, every time I raised an issue with the administrators of Tuckaway, I was treated like I was being dramatic or they had no idea what I was talking about. For example, they feed the kids Nutri-Grain bars regularly - one of those has 43g of added sugar, roughly comparable to a snickers bar. When I asked why my 1-year old would be fed that, I was met with a lackluster response that all kids there get the same food unless there is a documented allergen. I encouraged them to do some research into healthy food choices for the kids in their care since every children’s hospital in the country has published studies about avoiding added sugars before the age of 2 and I was basically blown off. They also were constantly putting my kid in front of a screen. One time, I came in for pickup and my daughter was watching Mickey Mouse on one of the teacher’s phones. She was so focused on the phone that she didn’t notice I was in the room for over a minute. When I noted to the office that we don’t do a lot of screen time at home and that I kept noticing that screens would be on for the kids at pickup to drop off, they acted like they had no idea that was going on and they’d get to the bottom of it - the classroom my daughter was in was about 7 feet from the front desk, there’s no way they didn’t know. Lastly, the turnover is awful at this place. We had several different teachers that my daughter struggled to adjust to bc they’d come in be gone a few weeks later. On multiple days, my daughters teachers (both!) failed to show up at work at all. I observed other teachers to be constantly sitting around doing nothing, not interacting with the children, on their phones, and I even heard from another parent of a teacher caught sleeping on the job at pickup. Lastly, despite all these issues, this facility charged more than others and also increased their fees frequently. As a first-time parent, I was anxious to leave my kiddo with anyone. I wish I had a review like this to rely on when deciding who would care for my kid, so I wanted to share honest feedback for parents out there looking for childcare."
