Reviews of Agee's Bicycles Cary Street
"Brought my bike here to be serviced multiple times in the last year and each time I was returned with my bike still needing extra work. This last time they took off my basket to adjust the headset and left the basket hanging loosely with a missing screw. They also bent my basket arm. Other times it was barely rideable. You would think that they would leave me with a bike ready to ride after I pay for their services. I’m willing to pay for whatever amount of time to service my bike so I can ride it out of the shop but each time I’ve gone and been returned with a bike still needing service. Coming to agee’s has been a massive waist of time."
"I just bought my first bike, no less an expensive e-bike, in decades. I went with a knowledgeable friend who helped me but could not have been more delighted with the experience. I could go on and on but Steve, in particular, patiently explained my options, was incredibly kind as I thought through what I wanted, did not debate my friend’s opinions or recommendations and I left with a great bike and a great experience. I love the very personal and patient attention Steve, in particular gave. That kindness extended after I picked up my bike and I anticipate that will continue when I get it serviced there. I am a happy new bike owner because of my experience with Steve and Agee’s Bicycles on Cary Street"
"Went in today to get a quote on some repairs and left feeling like I want to support this bike shop. Spoke to Steven? For about an hour I think. When I left it was 630 and I'm pretty sure they close at 6. Absolute pleasure chatting to him about bikes and what might suit my needs in the future. I haven't shopped for bikes in a while so there was a lot of cool new stuff he showed me. Very likely getting my repairs done here in the future and possibly future bike purchase. Glad to have a shop like this around. Pretty sure they do free diagnostics and encourage testing bikes out. They have a bit of everything and if they don't have it I'm sure they'll order it for you."
"Service work for some reason was just pathetic. I’m switching a Trek road bike to a flat handlebar and thought that a Trek dealer would be the place to go. The switch meant new brake and shift levers, which they installed backwards. Also, brakes were not even close to being adjusted correctly and miscellaneous screws were either way too tight or way too loose. And a cable guide was missing. I took it back and they installed a cable guide and adjusted the cables. The cable guide is a little off and doesn’t match the grooves in the frame. The steel cable still rubs the carbon fiber frame. The front deraileur is way out of adjustment; the chain rubs the derailleur. The derailleur cable is cut too short and there’s no cap on the cable end. I’m not going back again, I’ve wasted enough time and money. I just want to ride my bike."
"Steven is very nice and helpful! I found this place a few months ago when I was scouring the peninsula for a new mountain bike. I found a great Haro bike here but I couldn't fit it in my car. He held the bike for me in the back, and when I finally made my way back to Richmond a few months later, the bike was still there! And it was on sale! I had a good experience here and I would recommend it to anyone else looking for a good new bike."
