Reviews of The UPS Store
"This is an old incident but I decided to review after looking at the other reviews. TLDR: This UPS has a theft problem. I tried to return a pair of $150 earbuds to the original seller through this UPS store only for the seller to claim that they never received the box. I was not given a receipt, a tracking number, or anything. I walked in to give them my return and the seller’s info and the person at the counter told me he’d handle it. When I went back to the store a week or two later, they claimed to have no knowledge of what I was talking about, who I was, and refused to even look at the cameras. This was despite the fact that I knew the exact date and time that I went in to ship my package, and checking the cameras should have been easy. There is something fishy going on at this store and they need to be investigated and/or shut down."
"Beware: As one reviewer said, if you plan to ship anything of value from this store (I definitely won’t), you would be wise to record yourself placing the item into the UPS package and handing the item over to the store employee. (Consent may be required if filming others in store.) Do not rely on the store’s surveillance footage capturing anything because their surveillance is only retained for 3 days (per store manager). By the time you learn your package went missing, it may be too late for you to raise the issue. * To anyone who reads this and has had a similar experience, please report your complaint to the Maryland Attorney General’s office for consumer complaints. Hopefully enough people will report this business in order to get some accountability. There is so much to say about my experience with this store. First, people need to know that many UPS stores, like this one, are franchises, and, based on my experience, there appears to be virtually no accountability for wrongs done by the employees of the local stores that you entrust your packages with. My fiancé and I learned this the very hard way when we used this store to ship an engagement gift — a very valuable watch. Due to the item’s value, we purchased insurance for the watch through a UPS subsidiary insurance company. The franchise manager, Swaiz Khan, was the only store employee present at the time the watch was left with UPS. Mr. Khan showed a seemingly unusual interest in knowing about the watch but we didn’t think anything of it at the time. (We’ve since learned from a UPS Corporate customer relations manager that Mr. Khan’s questions were “super unusual.”) We trusted UPS and had the assurance that we’d purchased insurance. Fast forward several days when we’re alerted by the recipient that the package was received but was missing the watch. The recipient’s “forensic” assessment was that tampering had occurred at the shipping location. We immediately drove to the UPS store when we learned this. Mr. Khan was not at the store but would be there the following day. We proceeded to file an insurance claim that night per the shipping policy. I met with Mr. Khan the following day. Mr. Khan seemed nervous and gave us information that was in direct contradiction with the terms and conditions of the filing process under the insurance policy. Ultimately, the claim was denied initially due to “no evidence of loss.” We appealed the denial after getting the runaround from UPS Capital. UPS corporate then became involved and purported to complete a 10-day security review for which we were told we would be contacted. We were also assured that the investigator would be able to review surveillance footage. (This was a point I had stressed multiple times when we appealed the initial denial.) Yet, the security review concluded more than 10 days later. We were never contacted or interviewed or provided a copy of the investigation report. The appeal was also denied and with no explanation beyond “no evidence of loss.” We tried to speak with someone at UPS about this but no one ever returned our call. We have since discovered from the store owner himself that surveillance footage is deleted after 3 days, and Mr. Khan claims there is no way to recover the footage. Because the watch took more than 3 days to arrive, we never had a chance to request the surveillance footage. This fact was known by Mr. Khan since he was the person who shipped the watch and knew how long it would take to arrive. We are now dealing with the very real possibility that we’ll never be made whole for this. I return to my initial point that people should know how UPS stores are owned and operated. We have since discovered through similar Google reviews and the Better Business Bureau website that numerous people have had a similar experience — where a high value item is shipped through this very UPS store, and the box arrives at its destination empty. (1 star because 0 stars is not an option.)"
"I'm new to the area and needed to fax something urgently. One employee was having a personal conversation with a customer while waiting on me. I wanted to pay with cash; but I was rudely asked did I have a card? There's no signs posted about only paying via a credit or debit card. No individualized attention. I was just a customer but unfortunately I wasn't given the individual attention I expected. I understand each UPS store is separately owned and operated. Definitely not the same customer service as the staff in Greenbelt. I read the negative reviews regarding this store. I believe in giving the benefit of the doubt; however, the negative reviews are valid. Poor customer service. If no stars were an option, it would be ZERO stars for me."
"If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I was in town for the Thanksgiving holiday and needed to send somethings home by mail due to not having enough space in my luggage. I went to this UPS store. I paid for packing and shipping. The employee behind the counter put in the wrong address and I did not receive my package. When I called back he states that the address was wrong and I would get it by the following Tues. I called for an investigation. He was very nasty and unprofessional on the phone. He called me back twice after I let him know that there was an investigation and he gave me the new tracking number, admitted he was at fault but still refused to give me any refund. I received my package on Monday and not everything is in the package. I have called them several times today and the have blocked my number. Very unprofessional. Poor customer service. Spend a couple of more minutes and go to the other UPS stores that are on Coleridge Drive. You more than likely will regret going to this store and you maybe missing things from your package"
"I’ve been going to this UPS for 3+ years now and they’ve always been extremely helpful and courteous. They get plenty of packages and never give you a hard time for dropping off multiple ones. Sometimes their QR code return system is down (understandable with all the returns they get), but they’ll let you know in advance so you’re not waiting in line/wasting your time. Plus, extra points for holiday spirit."
