"I recently relocated from GA to TN, and therefore made. Visit to Blountville County clerks office on August 28, 2023. In order to change my license plate for my vehicle. I provided my (in date) GA driver's license and vehicle registration along with 2 additional forms of proof of residency. I was advised by one of the representatives that they could not accept my paystubs due to their having my new surname as opposed to my old one as is printed on my license, telling me to additionally bring a piece of mail in it's envelope as proof of address. At the time this confused me, I had called in before making the trip and was told everything was in order with no mention of this so I asked to speak with a supervisor for clarity. The representative was very polite and proceeded to find her supervisor, who was anything but. Bridget Gommin approached and stared at me for an uncomfortably long time without introducing herself. I asked if she was the supervisor and she replied with a kurt yes before asking to see my divorce decree or marriage certificate, which I did not have on hand. She showed a complete disregard for my concerns and continued to ask for them rather than engaging my questions and attempts for resolution, I even showed her my mortgage documents with my current last name along with a document from my sons school believing this should suffice as proof of identity to resolve the situation, but to no avail and with out explanation as to why not. At one point I asked for clarification as to why she needed my proof of residency specifically on an envelope and instead of explaining she replied with 'Why didn't you bring in the envelopes, you didn't think?' It is unbelievable how I was treated, and I felt from her behavior that she was being unnecessarily suspicious and rude because of my race. I am clearly visibly and audibly hispanic and sadly am subject to such treatment on occasion, but to be treated this way by an official department such as this one of all places is deeply upsetting and disgraceful. I am a US citizen who has served 9 ongoing years to the federal government and am a prior military spouse. It is massively concerning to me that someone with such irrational hate in their heart may be elevated to such a position of authority in this workforce. BE AWARE OF RACISM. me that someotheir heart may be elevated to such a position of authority in your workforce and hope that you understand my plight and deem it worthy of investigation."
"Employees are friendly and very helpful although one employee that helped me charged me to register my boat trailer. I found out later on that Tennessee doesn’t require a boat trailer to be registered. Don’t know why she charged me or why she didn’t say anything, when it’s her job to have that information and could have saved me money I didn’t need to spend. Three stars. Nobody wants to pay money that isn’t required."
"Over the past week I have been in the clerks office multiple times for vehicle registration, address change, and finally today getting my last name changed. If I had rated it earlier in the week I probably would have given 3 stars due to the unfriendly and unhelpful nature of the other visits.. But today 6/8/2022 I was greeted warmly by Ms. Laura Ann and treated with the upmost respect and given full attention. She made the process a breeze and made me actually not dread coming here next time! Thankful for people like this sweet lady that care MOST about treating the customers with respect while doing THE BEST job! Thanks again Laura Ann!!"
"The staff here is usually very helpful. But two visits recently I have noticed a definite downturn in service. They offer drive thru service for tag renewals, but the window goes unattended until you have sat for several minutes and pushed the service button several times. No greeting, no how are you? Last time I checked normal good manners are still a good thing. A have a good day or something would be nice."
"Staff was incredibly helpful and kind while acting as Executor for a family member's estate. Printed out forms as necessary, told me who to call for an issue, and remembered me when I came back in. Easy parking and access to the building. No wait."
