"Donna Harvey is the best, bought a jeep and she has helped us with that loan and few other financial things !! I'm soo pleased to be able to call her and she helps me right away. Calls back promptly!! I have no complaints at all !! She's the best!!!"
"I went in for a simply inquiry about a new debit card and somehow that translated into the bank teller BLOCKING my current debit card. Which is irreversible apparently? She never asked or anything, I just went to use my card later and couldn’t. Now i have no access to my money and have to wait on a replacement card. After several useless phone calls I would not recommend handling any transactions here."
"I have had several issues with Member One throughout the years; mostly involving them cancelling or blocking my debit account due to fraudulent charges. I do totally understand why they would do this, however, NONE of the times this has happened have I been contacted to let me know what was going on. Today I went to use this card to buy dinner and groceries and discovered that my card was blocked. I contacted card services and tried to verify these charges with someone the first time; one of which I was not sure of because they could not tell me the amount. So the lady cancelled my card and informed me I would have to call or go to a branch to get a new card… THIS IS ALL UNDERSTANDABLE. I was throughly confused after my first call and decided to call back. This time I got Lynn. I explained calmly what happened and told her I was confused and would like to go back over those transactions with her to better understand why this was happening because I have no access to money until MONDAY when the branched open. Lynn was so condescending, rude, and belittling the entire call. I finally got fed up with how she was talking to me, asked for her name, and told her I will go to a branch and close my account with member one SOLELY because she was so rude. I’ve dealt with other rude employees throughout the years but after this frustrating encounter, I AM DONE. Don’t bank with them, it is wayyyyyyyy more trouble than it’s worth."
"I chose this bank thinking it would be a better experience and at first it was. Lately (for the past 3 months), my account incurs frequent NSF charges even when all transactions and deposits align and are cleared. And anytime I call in about them, I am given the lecture of posting, pending, and transmitting as if I don’t understand how transactions and processing works. If you want to dispute a transaction be prepared to have your card replaced verses funds stopped or reimbursed. And it takes months to receive a replacement card. If you choose this bank just make sure to be vigilant about depositing, transferring and withdrawing. And if ever there was a dispute at hand, be prepared to figure out another way to obtain your money. I’m learning that after deposits I’ll just remove my amount so there won’t be anymore mix ups. Banking should not be this costly nor stressful. The workers I have come across are helpful for the most part."
"I will summarize 2 complaints: Complaint #1 is them knowingly and willfully engaging in dishonest communication with a listed reference on my loan that resulted in an embarrassing conversation based on the false premise that I couldn't be reached. Complaint #2 is them admitting over the phone they violated their own internal collections policies. Complaint 1: I have 3 loans with Member One FCU. This month due to financial circumstances the loans were nearing 28 days late (not even 30+ days where the credit bureaus would be notified). They suddenly and without explanation called my references claiming they couldn't reach me and asking them to ask me to call them. This is factually false information that they couldn't reach me because they have verified my phone number and email address on numerous occasions when I either was able to answer their call or called them back and had to verify my number. I explained over the phone that I typically don't see phone calls at work or cannot take them during the hours they call. I have often called them back, verified my number, and provided the information they sought. The truth is after only 2 voicemails this month they inexplicably called references. The only resolution they offered was to notate that I wish not for references to be called in the future. They did not acknowledge or explain why they acted dishonestly and under false pretense. Complaint 2: When I spoke on 1/31/23 with a manager named Miranda she stated they may start calling references when a loan is 30 days late. When I told her the loan was only 28 days late at the time of the call to my references she changed her statement and said "around 30 days." When I called her out on that she gave no answer but to restate her "corrected" statement. Miranda's first statement was an admission that Member One FCU acted inconsistent with their own internal policies. This means they either are failing to train their collection agents, failing to train their managers, or are discriminately contacting references without any clear standard to guide their actions. More consumers' rights are likely being violated in such an unethical and unprofessional work environment. If being a couple weeks late can result in the friends and relatives of Americans being called this is a frightening scenario. Someone needs to stand up to this abusive, bullying behavior and hold them accountable. UPDATE: Their canned response thanking me for leaving a review and encouraging me to email them just came through. I already submitted complaints about this unethical behavior to the National Credit Union Association, the Office of Attorney General of Virginia, and the Federal Trade Commission. There's no need for me to share any more about my experience since they refused to resolve the issue in the reasonable way I requested."
