Reviews of Haka African Braiding LLC
"Worst hair-braiding place ever! They say they can reproduce a style, but they can't. When they mess your hair up, the owner goes into hiding."
"Think twice before going to Haka’s (view pictures) On May 21, 2023, I decided to go to Haka African Braiding, LLC for the first time because I was short on time and could not make the trip to my regular braider, this was my first mistake. I am furious and utterly disappointed with the quality of my braids, which is an understatement. We all hold hair service providers to high standards, as it is an extension of what we present to the world. This experience has been a complete letdown. Not only did I pay $200 for the style, along with $100 for the hair and an extra $20 tip for the braiders time, but the braider showcased an alarming lack of skill and expertise from the very beginning. The kinky twists I specifically requested ended up resembling Marley twists instead (the size of the braid was recommended by the braider), failing to achieve the desired look or any form of precision. The quality of the braids was shockingly subpar, with the ends coming undone within a short period of time, leaving me utterly frustrated and embarrassed. To exacerbate matters, on June 3, 2023, while I was attending a jazz festival, I discovered to my horror that one of my braids had completely fallen out onto the ground. This premature unraveling of my hairstyle was disheartening. I returned to the salon on June 4th, where they reluctantly re-braided a row of braids at the nape of my neck because other braids were on the verge of falling out. Unfortunately, the problems persisted, as my hair began to unravel at the ends once again throughout the week. On June 9th, when I went back to the salon, they suggested curling the ends to prevent them from coming undone but adamantly refused to redo my hair. Stating they did not have money to pay the braider for the re-braid of my hair all over again. Although I paid for subpar service, to begin with . . . This experience has left me deeply dissatisfied and disheartened, and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through the same embarrassment. I had hoped for a professional and skilled braiding service but encountered nothing but disappointment and frustration. Effective communication and meeting client expectations are crucial in this industry, and this salon has failed miserably in both aspects. In conclusion, my experience with Haka African Braiding, LLC has been a complete disaster. The lack of skill, the unsatisfactory results that resembled a completely different hairstyle, the ends repeatedly coming undone, and the braids prematurely falling out have collectively contributed to an utterly regrettable experience. Note: Their braiding policy is tucked away, at the front of the salon, off to the side of the first braiding chair and is in no way visible to their customers."
"I bring my daughter in here every few months, as I need a break! She has had some fantastic styles, but I hate when they switch out stylists mid style because then it doesn’t match! Miss E., who is phenomenal, kind, and didn’t snatch my daughters soul through her scalp!, started the style and at the other side of the front, her appointment came in. Another lady finished my daughter and the braids are uneven in size, length, width, and the parts do not match. When paying these prices, I do expect to not have my daughter cry. Her scalp has raised tension bumps today- only on the side the other braided completed. Miss E., thank you for your patience with my kiddo, but beware that might happen. I need to take half her style out and rebraid it myself. I’m not happy!"
"If I could rate Haka Braiding as 10 stars, I would! More specifically E and Rachelle. This was my about 5th time here and I got knotless box braids. Both ladies were super fast and do very good work in a short amount of time. Throughout the process, E constantly checked up on me and made sure I liked it every step of the way. I will return again for sure and recommend you try this facility for all your braiding needs! Thank you, E and Rachelle!"
"I started coming here since 2016 when I was pregnant and needed some love on my hair. I've had several styles done here. Since then this is where I still come for my braid style. I live an hour away. Haka actually works in the salon. The ladies do often talk to each other as they braid in their language. But they do stop to ask how your doing and if you like the style they started on your head. Call first make an appointment, they for the most part get appts sitting in a chair upon arrival. If you want small braids most times it may take 3-4 hours i have timed it. 2 or 3 girls braid your ends to finish up. The salon looks clean, they have 8 salon chairs and on a busy day they fill up. They provide hair in shop for some styles which I love. They also can wash, blow dry your hair before braids if you need at a price. I did that one time. During the pandemic they are finally open, you must wear mask all braiders wore mask. Hand sanitizer all over. And they social distance so I felt safe getting braids done. They have went through many changes with braiders over the years but they still have decent service, my advice is when you find a great braider get her name and schedule to come back to her, it really helps when they learn your hair texture."
