"If you want a good honest mechanic and one that won’t take advantage of your wallet definitely go to Greene’s! They are good Christian people and have always treated us right. Top work for an affordable price. The owners are wonderful sweet people"
"I have used Greene's for years and never had an issue. We have historically been very happy with our experience there. However, I had my vehicle with them for what should have been a simple starter replacement. (There was a small lag when starting the car) I had taken my vehicle to 2 different places in Johnson City and they tested the battery, starter, and alternator and both determined it was the starter. Greene's called after initially looking at the car and claimed it was the battery. So we had them replace the battery and picked up the car however, I was having the same issue. I took the car back and they claimed it was then the purge valve. They replaced the purge valve and we picked up the car again, however it was still not fixed and continued to lag when starting the vehicle. I took it back yet again and they determined it was now the starter. They replaced the starter and I picked up the vehicle but the starter was making a squealing sound, so I took it back again. They claimed it was a bad starter from the parts store but that I also now needed a new engine because now my engine was leaking oil into the cylinders. So they replaced the starter again and I took it to the dealership because it was still not starting correctly and had a banging sound when driving. The dealer was able to determine the starter had not been installed properly and they would have to correct Greene’s mistakes. They provided documentation showing that the starter was not installed correctly and a wire to the starter had not been installed correctly. They were also able to determine that my engine was not leaking any oil into the cylinders. At this point, we’ve spent about $1750 on the car. Greenes charge us $980 for their services and did nothing to solve any issues and the dealer charged about $800 to correct all the mistakes. We called Greene’s to see about getting this taken care of and even offered to bring the provided documentation to them but they declined and said they couldn’t do anything for us about their mistakes. They claim they couldn’t install the starter properly because someone else prior to them had “tinkered” with the starter. The dealership had no issues getting the starter in correctly. I’ve been very unhappy with my experience this time and think it’s very unfortunate that they refused to give any kind of a refund for their mistakes. We won’t be going back. Updated to respond to their comment: while I did purchase a used car that was two years old the only thing I’d ever had done anywhere other than their shop was one oil change at Fast Change in Johnson City. While I cannot control what the one previous owner did with the car, I had zero issues with it for two years. I had absolutely NO work done on the car at any mechanic. Seems like they are making excuses and refusing to own up to their mistakes. If they weren’t able to install the starter properly they should have called me and let me take it elsewhere."
